The Evil of Christmas
Christmas is the happiest time of year for a large portion of the population. We believe that it brings out the best in everyone, unites families, and promotes "Goodwill to all." But how many of us really take the time to sit down and analyse how we act, in social terms?
Have you considered how a child would feel at the low to bottom end of the "social ladder?" Why is it that Santa gives more to the rich children than the poor children? A child is taught that Santa Claus rewards good behavior. So a child is also taught that a rich person is better than a poor person, at least according to Santa's rating system. And lets face it, we consider Santa to be a god of sorts. He knows everything, and performs physical miracle. Santa very nice man in theory, but he works a little backwards. The more you need, the less you get. The rich get rich and the poor stay poor...
Right along that line of thinking comes the theory of "Christmas Shopping." Make no mistake about it, all toy companies and toy stores are truly evil tools of society. They make their money by socially pressuring everyone into spending lots of money on their products. We must spend regardless of the quality of the product. We must spend regardless of what we can afford. A poor family struggling to put food on the table and pay their rent feels a tremendous amount of pressure to also purchase the new Pokemon product or whatever else is popular at the time. And one present is never enough, is it?
When I went to school, I was fortunate enough to be in the middle, and therefore not "poor" and "inferior" to other children. I have to admit, I was just happy not to be one of them. It is easy to get distracted by the evil propaganda, social evils and greedy establishments over Christmas. I'm asking you to not participate, not to add to the evil and suffering. Giving presents to children isn't a solution. They will still feel inferior, and this sets the wrong example (unless you believe that the rich children are better people than the poor children.) Buy all means, give to charity! But please don't flaunt your wealth at those less fortunate.
This year, say NO to Christmas.
