...and yeah, I don't know why I always seem to upset six7s.
We've had several convos over the years; he is referenced on
my 'old' homepage A2684478 ; he's always been someone I admired;
but I somehow seem to keep pissing him off and he disappears.
BTW a couple of your posts about the Maori in the Dawkins thread
remain the abstract ideal of the clear headed but compassionate
humanism to which I wish more people would aspire.
I only mention it now because somewhere, someone (Edwardo?) took
you to task with a nasty comment about how the discussion was turning
into an "I know more Maoris than thou!" type rant. I have always wanted
to say how unfair and untrue that comment was, but at the time, anything
I might have said would have turned it into a catfight.

I don't think he disappears because of you though
I'd forgotten about that comment about Maori friends. It didn't really bother that much, because obviously I do know many more Maori than Ed and sometimes I'm too happily obtuse to get the prod in comments.
Besides, Della had a few vicious swipes at me once in a conversation about how I didn't know any actual Maori and my ideas all came from university 'Cos you know, real Maori don't go to uni or have middle class white friends
She also accused me once of having been to university. Unfortunately I reacted by telling her of course I haven't, as if having been to university would have invalidated what I was saying She really was an arch troll. Ah the good ole days.
But thank-you for your compliment. It wouldn't have been the Dawkins thread (haven't posted there, although Effers did invite me along which was sweet) but I'm glad at least some of my posts have some value.

Ah... believe it or not that makes me feel better.
You recently trounced out of one of the 'strange religious threads'
with the indignation it probably deserves. But the contempt you
expressed for some of the juvenile foolishness there left me with
the impression that my contributions to the thread may have added
to your indignation. And yes, I admit to wondering why I bother with
much of that sort of thing anymore. They've become predictable, jaded
and lacking the spirit and humour that earlier religious arguments used
to have. I admit to wallowing about in that muck far too often.

Cool! Believe it or not, I have shed-loads of respect for you and the way you contribute to teh interwebs

Although I have only a vague memory the thread, I have a strong suspicion that - rather than 'trounced out' - 'abandoned' might better describe the way I left

I cannot deny that I become frustrated/saddened whenever I see otherwise sane and eloquent people posting nonsense (e.g. ANYTHING that promotes ANY supernatural concepts)

It's like banging your head against a brick wall; it feels much better if/when you stop
