They were great! Especially the bands. ('Our' kids are in both.)

glad it was a good night and concert, it's something that "never" happens here in our schools

every government changes the school curriculum's and not allocates the finances for any other type of activity WE are so behind!

Yeah, I know how that works. These communities here are big supporters of the kids' music, even though the schools are small, and getting smaller. Everybody's moving to more populated places. Sometimes the kids have a long ride to school, too.

But the parents all come out - the auditorium was full, as always. The bigger kids had new choir robes, and the littler ones had new printed t-shirts with the name of the school and 'music', 'choir', or 'band' on them.

Everybody goes to all of the events, and they never complain about driving the kids to practice or programs or whatever. Same with sports - the kids run 'track' and such.

They may not have all the fancy things a school might want, but they make sure the basics are there, and that the kids get a chance to learn music and art and such.

all we have is schools can't do discipline like of oldand no "truant officers" chasing down the non attenders and parents getting fined etc
Standards of today against "mine" in the 50's/60's have disappeared altogether
I don't blame the kids, I blame the society and what are now the grandparents for NOT passing on "manners/respect for others and general decency)

You would have been amazed by these kids, then. I ran across some of them in the hallways, not kids I knew. They were all so polite and friendly and seemed glad you were there.

unknown here manners are non existent! as is respect!
F and B is the "normal" language, as "they" don't know anything better - you can't say "no" to a kid (any age) anymore - answer comes back - You can't say/do that, it's against my human rights - they hear it on tv/media etcso "monkey see etc"

Here's a good joke for you: right now, I'm listening to some music 'composed' by dead people.

There was this English medium named Rosemary Brown. She channeled dead composers - all famous ones, of course - who got her to produce new piano pieces. Now, most of them sound like the composers on an 'off' day, much like the Ouija board novelists. (I have a Guide Entry on them.)

But I was listening to one that said 'Debussy', and somebody left a comment: 'This one wasn't composed by Debussy, it was composed by Erik Satie. He told me so. He was just playing a joke on the medium and said he was Debussy.'
