The Loneliness of the 11-foot-8 (3.5m) Bridge

To the good people of Durham, North Carolina:
This is not why we moved away.

But it is why we keep revisiting. And being glad we don't have to drive your weird roads anymore.
Note: they've put up flashing lights and a sign that says, 'Overheight. Must Turn.' They turn the light red to give the drivers time to think.
Still the bridge devours Ryder trucks and campers. It is now a Thing, thanks to that German guy with the cameras outside his business premises.

H2G2 series/film some people have the "brain the size of a planet" but not! The intelligence to get it out of the shrink-wrap and use it

My usual statement is - They think they are THAT intelligent, except! They are 2 still two braincells behind a plant
(no disrespect to plants, some are clever)

From my P/S
Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright, until you hear them speak!

I've seen a truck get stuck under a short bridge.
They solved the problem by letting some of the air out of the tires.

Colleague of mine took a nap in the top bunk of his mobile home when a bridge swiped off the roof
Luckily only the vehicle was damaged and he can laugh about it now, but he definitely couldn't back then

One thing I've learnt at & events is that many an open-top started off as a closed-top before receiving spontaneous open-top conversions during encounters with unexpectedly low bridges…

I actually did that a few year ago At the bottom of "my" housing estate, a lorry was stuck under a bridge and the driver, plus staff where he was delivering to stood "with brain cogs in - bloody hell! what do we do now mode"
I said casually let air out of each tyre and you'll get it free and carried on walking towards town
I'm SOO modest
Key: Complain about this post
