Pierre de la Mer ~ sometimes slightly worried but never panicking ~

What you (and everybody else) need to read is "Le Matin des Magiciens" by Louis Pauwels and Jacques Bergier. It is an eye opener, teaching us not to believe what we have been taught (!) but to keep our minds open. It is available in both French and English and even my native tongue so probably in all languages worth mentioning

Raining frogs? Pah, you've seen nothing till you've read this book!

You are welcome smiley - smiley

I am sure many hootooers will love it. Back in my 70's it was a must read along with "The Hobbit", "Lord of the Rings", various books by Carlos Castaneda (which I have yet to read), "Zen and the Art of repairing a Motorcycle" and half a dozen other great books smiley - smiley

I was just thinking about this myself on account of the coincidence that the great subterranean cavern systems are often clustered around this rims of ancient major impact craters.

For example, the cenote system of the Yucatan in distributed around the (inner) rim of Chicxalub crater.

One has a similar development with the Cave system of Viet Nam, which boasts the largest cavern and the largest sinkhole in the world.

(On the sinkhole, its so huge that the debris mound underneath, inside the cavern, is about 1000 feet in height, with enough sunlight filtering in to support an exuberant jungle growth and a population of monkeys.)

(Sometimes the truth is stranger than fiction.)

The same pertains to the cave systems in the limestone hills surrounding Bosnia, that is, the cave system originated in fissures in limestone formations produced by a major meteoric impact.

Apparently, wherever there's a major impact crater with a limestone formation on its rim, the fractures in the limestone eventually grow into limestone caverns.

Limestone caverns can, of course, also come up in fissures in limestone formations produced by seismic stresses, the model that the Mammoth Caves system in the USA seems to fit, related to the New Madrid system.
