Peet, G'day! Haven't really come across you much since you unsubscribed from my journals... I like Thursdays because I don't have uni (okay, I have one hour, but who's travelling for 2 & a half hours when you can get it on the net??) and I don't work...fantastic combination, that...

I've just started working from home, so travel time comes down to whether or not I need to visit the toilet on the way from bed to computer!

Mondays RULE!!! Every other day is horrible! I can't think why Mondays rule other than me being born on a Monday...

Muuuuch better than dial-up, though reconfiguring apps. to not ask you if you'd like to "hang up and try to dial the server" can be a bit annoying...haven't any software designers heard of always-on connections??

That is always a problem with mail applications - many ISP accounts only let you pick up your mail if you're dialled in through their number. I haven't given this much thought yet, but I'm running Win2000, and it is supposed to support multiple modems, so I may be able to keep my old Courier V-Everything wired up too, and have Outlook just dial through it for mail collections, hanging up immediately thereafter. That'd keep my free webspace and domain name "alive" too...

btw, are you into "Star Wars"? Since you've got a good connection, you might appreciate "George Lucas in Love" - link at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A521407#back24

*clicks link* I'll get back to you on how good my connection is...
That's probably the best idea...a problem with having outlook go through your adsl connection is that it hangs everything whilst it searches for the connection...not a problem if does it nice and quickly, but sometimes it can take over a minute to connect...I've only just put up my website on this new server, so I don't have to worry about that...actually, I can't get the frames to work, would you mind having a look at it? The URL's on my user page...I'm sure I'd work it out soon enough, but I'm learning what I need to know as I go along, so the quicker I get this fixed up the quicker I can make it look half-decent...

King C., try changing all your <A Href.... to <A Target="_top" Href...
It's not ideal; the problem seems to be that all your main pages try to draw a new frameset - that's not really how frames are supposed to work. Try the above first, and if that works I'll get back to you when I have a little more time and show you how to only update individual frames...

Eternity, sorry for the short flurry of topic drift; it won't last. I used to be subscribed to a thread over at King C.'s page, but I unsubscribed back in the days when I couldn't go away for an hour without the number of replies I was getting overflowing the number of threads displayed on my "user space"... Nowadays, it's rare to come on and find more than 4 threads awaiting reply - two weeks ago there was a 24 hour period where not a single one of my subscribed threads had a new posting! We're just "catching up"...

Thanks Peet, that was actually my next plan of...well, it couldn't actually be called attack, more random hoping... I've done almost exactly 2 minutes of reading on frames, so I'm not surprised there's probably a major fault; I simply designed it the way that I thought it should work, and everything else *did* work, so I can't complain...
Btw, I tried that video...it streams fantastically well, perfectly smooth, barely a ripple...adsl is great!
And what topic drift? ;-รพ

Funny, I don't remember seeing that there before... Thanks...I actually properly watched that video...Beautiful p**s-take...I was hoping to see someone walking along and being brought down by a skipping rope wound around their legs though...
