Oh,
It won't be my first time
I've made it a habit of going around Christmas every year, but unfortunately I didn't really know any NE US researchers before this past summer, so...
I usually stay at the Marriot Marquis in Times Square, and last year was really cool because I went to see the Lion King and somehow managed to score the greatest seats; front row, center, Mezzanine
Anyway, I think I'll drop Shea and email and try calling Courtney...again

Any chance of making it in February? We're having a meet-up then.

Early, middle, or late?
(March is the earliest I would want to
travel on any non-urgent missions, but
late late February is almost as good as
March ).
I had a really, really good time at the
November get-together. I don't know what
the prospects are for the Boston-area
researchers to meet. There are worse
things than not meeting, I suppose....
Still, it's fun to be able to connect
names with faces.
And, I have to say that Tacsatduck is
so fantastically funny in person that
it would have been a great loss if I hadn't
gone to the New York get-together in November.
(Everybody else was great, too. I was just
using Tacsatduck as an example....)

I'll be in Manhatten this Tuesday through Friday, and then back again in March, 26th-30th (Wednesday to Saturday), but if there's a meet-up in late February too, well, I suppose I might be able to make it. And seeing as how it seems as though it's the only time I would be able to meet you, Shea, I'll try my hardest to attend...
Also I've had the feeling that most NE US researchers are kinda ticked off with me for not coming to the one in November (namely Batty, although I'm sure she's a great person), so that bit of paranoia is also playing it's part

Oh yeah, Batty went on for hours about how awful you were for not showing up ... not!
We were just sorry you couldn't be there.

*right before he's about to pour himself a glass of egg nog he stops*
Excuse me. Where are my manners?
*pours a tub of egg nog with huge silly straws (actually hoses) hanging from the side for each of his fans, and slips into each tub an unreasonabley large holiday gift that he hopes the opaqueness of the nog will keep well hidden*
Care for some egg nog?
*with much effort he pushes one of the tubs over to Shea*

So I went to Tavern on the Green and, of course, just had to order their egg nog.
After the third glass I realized it was hard, but I didn't mind so much. What really got to me was my cousin who addressed all the waitresses as, 'Baby,' and slapped their bums and such. I would have helped the waitresses beat the crap out of him had they done so. Stupid cousins...
*downs a glass of egg nog*
How has everyone been?
And HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!

Egg nog is great stuff!
Happy New Year, Yossarian.
We'll get through the year a day at a time,
not knowing what's coming, but hoping for the
best always!
Glad you're back for the Big Apple.
I have an aunt in Schenectady who goes
to Manhattan even 2 or 3 weeks. It's a fun
place to go, and always changing. I often
go there in my dreams, though I suspect
the Manhattan of my dreams is a lot different
from the real thing--my dream version has a
lot more country roads.

That brings back memories, Shea.
When I was a kid, my stomach was always
too unsettled for much of a breakfast in
the morning. (Maybe it was because I was
just plain sluggish about getting up in time for
school, so there was no time for sitting down
and eating....). So, my mother got in the habit
of making eggnogs that I could drink. That
nutmeg taste was very nice.

Well.......I think she put
cinnamon in occasionally
for variety. Or maybe she
ran out of nutmeg from time
to time....
Anyway, Yoss was talking
about the eggnog at Tavern
on the Green being hard.
I think holiday eggnog is
supposed to be spiked. At
least that's the way my
brother-in-law always made it for
his Christmas parties. I remember
one Christmas party in the
early 1970s when I got so sloshed from
his eggnog that I was unable to
escort my date home. (She did
get home safely, and I don't think
she was angry, but she didn't go
out with me again. I just assumed
it was all part of my bad karma
with regard to women...)

It must have been nice getting egg nog every morning for breakfast before school....
I usually wake up around 6ish and it's still dark outside , and then I just sit around for a while not completely awake (as you must have observed if you've ever seen me on h2g2 in the morning). Before I know it, I have all of five minutes to make it to my first class and so I usually dramatically dive into my car, back up, realize that the garage door is still closed, trigger it to open, and then drive to school (still not entirely awake), without even so much as a bite to eat, either...

I'm too busy worrying about my own
grogginess to notice yours, Yoss.
I have to struggle to keep my eyes
open sometimes. If I drink extra coffee,
I get some relief, but then it's harder
to get to sleep that night.
If I didn't have to live in a 9 to 5 world,
I could happily sleep till 10 or 11 every
morning. I'm a night person. A lot of
creative people are at their best at night,
and shouldn't expect too much from morning.
