Yeah, aren't we???
You could come to Bristol and help out with my mate's horses until you can go back to uni if that's what you decide to do.
Or do an apprenticeship in Iceland on a horse farm

I like s. If I have to be indecisive, I'd rather be indecisive with horses
Looking at volunteering with various aid organisations for a year or so - "Architecture for Humanity" is sort of like "Doctors Without Borders", just for archi-s - but even they require prior work experience

Br Robyn Hoode - Navo - complete with theme tune Posted Jun 5, 2009
that's harsh...
Hm.
Well, a year out could just be a proper year out. (i.e. do something entirely different to what you want to focus on when you get back)
When I say entirely differnt, I'm not suggesting you join a far-right political party for a year for 'research' or anything, obviously! I was thinking more like visiting somewhere, working doing something entirely different (volunteering could work if you can afford it or do it with the right people)

Is there a European version of Habitat for Humanity? Or is that what your architecture group is for?
Now that's put a crimp in my plans...
Malabarista - now with added pony Posted Jun 5, 2009
Hmmm - Habitat for Humanity generally gets by without the aid of an architect, or rather, recycles plans for houses that have been built elsewhere. I suppose it would be construction site experience...
Architecture for Humanity recently brought out a wonderful book that I need to go order - it's called "Design Like You Give a Damn: Architectural Responses to Humanitarian Crises"

I did some work with Habitat for Humanity for a little while - it was brilliant. As you say, there might not be much architectural work involved, but you could do a lot worse for a bit of volunteering.

Yes, I was thinking of the construction aspect.

Or maybe I can volunteer at a museum or some other place they're reconstructing...
Now that's put a crimp in my plans...

In my experience, a museum director's favourite word is 'volunteer'.
Especially if they can get somebody educated and responsible. They never have enough money.
