Onions and Radishes and Parsnips

Ho-hum, so the Spring Onion is over, but already there are plans for a radish and a parsnip. One or more of which may be held whilst I am within a thousand miles of the meeting place, which is good.

Speaking of which, all my Canada plans are going well. Turns out my baggage allowance is "2pcs" meaning 2 bags, no more than 32kg each. This makes my full allowance something in excess of my own bodyweight, and so should cover anything I can actually carry. Plus. the Canadian High Commission got back to me in significantly less than 2-4 weeks and said I can study in Canada, which is useful. Not only that, but the student authorisation also covers any work on the university site, e.g. a teaching assistantship, like wot I have got. If I just get my replacement passport, I'm sorted.

Stanage Ridge

I've been doing some proper outdoor climbing. The Peak District people are letting us onto this bit, so my housemate, Thom, and I have gone and climbed up it. I'm impressed with myself for doing a v. diff. (that means very difficult, if you're a non-climber) which Thom had given up on half-way up. Of course when he saw how I did it, he had another go and made it in about two-thirds of the time it took me, but then he's done this sort of thing before.

Today in History

From the Ship of Fools site:

The reformer John Wyclif was
condemned as a heretic by the Council
of Constance today in 1415. For his
rejection of the papacy and
transubstantiation, he was burnt at the
stake and his ashes thrown in the river,
which caused him less concern than it
might, as he had already been dead for
33 years.

Would any historians around like to confirm this? It sounds extremely bizarre.
