Hello tamaire
Yup, i do, lol. I gave up German last year and regret it, but I cans till do langs @ uni, so maybe. But translating involves, as far as i can work out, sitting alone at a desk for hours on end, i really don't know about careers, I need more info first, but yes, languages are great!
French was ok, although harder than the practice ones. Still the sciences to go, which is the hardest part

So are you at uni/school?
yeah I regret dropping german, I've forgotten nearly all of it now
Good luck with the sciences

Yup, at Sixth Form doing AS levels (don't talk aout revision, i should be doing it now, lol) How bout you?
It's the same with me, but at least now we've got the speaking thread to help us out! It's a shame that there aren't more native French speakers, though.

the goo goo goo joob part is from the Beatles song "I am the walrus", great song, you should listen to it if you haven't already.
I'm doing my A'Levels, first exam is tomorrow (don't worry, I won't mention the r-word, I'm in the same situation as you), pure 4 as well, so that should be fun

Aha! Yes I know that song,, although not very well, as you probably worked out. Is there a Beatles Fan Club round here?
What subjects are you doing?(or have you answered that one already...?)
All this r-stuff is filling up my brain- there's no room left for useful things!

I'm doing physics, maths, further maths (AS only), french and philosophy and ethics. Strange selection I know, but its fun(in a way).
I haven't found the beatles fan club, though I'm fairly sure there must be one. let me know if you find it
and what subjects are you doing (if I haven't already asked)

So, are you just doing the further maths As this year? Have you already got your maths a-level? I have a friend who's planning on doing the exact same thing: finishing the maths a-level this year and taking it to As next year, as it's a lot of work and she doesn't like her all-male class, lol.
chemistry (examsover today), maths, French, biology. I've said I'm droppping bio next year, but I'm not so sure, as I've found chemistry the hardest.
I will!
Languages
Michael Posted Jun 9, 2005
Yeah I've done my maths a-level, finished it in January, I'm taking my 3 modules for further maths now (2 down, one to go)
arrrgh biology, hate it! I used to suck at it, the last year I took it i failed all but one of my practicals, thoug in my defence we had biology from 4.30 to 6 on a friday, at which point colouring in the guy next to you with a highlighter seems so much more important
so you've finished all your exams? hope you get the results you want in August

Good luck with that - you're braver than me,
I'm dropping bio next year, although I do think chemistry's a lot harder. It's all the coursework and practicals that put me off. I get very hot and stressed, because I'm probably the least organised, impractical person in the class. I forget to do things, do them in the wrong order, run out of time, and generally my results aren't right at the end. Despite all this, in a couple of weeks I'm going on a biology fieldtrip! 4 days of pure bio!
I've just got a maths module to do the week after next and then it's over But I haven't revised for that yet
Languages
Michael Posted Jun 9, 2005
what module is that?
I've always preferred physics to chemistry, though that's just personal opinion I guess
four days! good luck with that... at least it means 4 days of school, right?

C2, God help me. it's the hardest one, i think, with the most to learn, anyway. Probably from scratch.I'm getting worried now.
I wouldn't know, I've only done physics in the context on double award GCSE. All but 3 people in my maths class are doing physics- they only took mechanics because of physics, where as I took it because it looked more interesting the stats.
Ha! i wish. No, we set off on a Fri morning and come back on the following tuesday, at 1:00am, and apparently we're expected to go to school afterwards!
Languages
Michael Posted Jun 9, 2005
yes, the key term being *expected*, you can have a lie-in the next day
C2 (strange, it comes up as a link), that's the equivalent of P1 isn't it? I'm getting confused with the new system.
Mechanics is definitely more interesting than stats, however it is also a lot harder. Count yourself lucky you'll never have to do M3, that was really awful.

Sounds good to me!
Er, I think it's the equivalent of P2, but then again, i haven't actually got a clue.
I never really liked Stats at GCSE, it was so tedious,e.g. probability, graph reading and drawing. i like a problem that you can use your head to work out, rather than just standard, systematic workings out. Does that make sense?
Languages
Michael Posted Jun 11, 2005
yes, I know what you mean. Having said that I've just done the Stats 1 exam, and it does feel good doing p*ss easy exams, but yeah it is tedious

This week I only have general studies on wednesday, so basically I have a free week. Don't know what I'll be doing though
Languages
Vamster Posted Jun 14, 2005
Sticking to the topic...Have you done a languages module in General studies? We're just doing pratice for it now, the multiple choice French was very easy, so next time I'll have a go at the German too
Languages
Michael Posted Jun 16, 2005
Yep, just did it yesterday. If I don't get full marks on the french bit I'll shoot myself. Actually I'll shoot someone else instead. It was the most tedious exam ever, I'd finished after 40 mins, so had 50 glorious minutes of counting bricks, great fun
