Well here it is, November 30, 2012 and NaJoPoMo is at its end. How shall I conclude this experiment? I think I will start this ending by admitting that my preconceived notions were rather lacking.

A long time ago I studied “The Artist’s Way” by Julia Cameron. My preconceived notions were largely based on what I remembered about that experience. As a part of “recovering” the Artist within, Julia suggests writing “Morning Pages.” I remembered that I liked writing “Morning Pages.” I had forgotten how much encouragement she added to her suggestion. She knew that first-timers would have to overcome significant psychological obstacles arising from within.

NaJoPoMo has been an eye-opener, to say the least. I have many traits that hamper my life. Procrastination is way up there on that list. Laziness is high on the list as well. I am not sure where I accepted the trait of valuing a difficult task, but I did. NaJoPoMo proved to be such a task. I value that h2g2, and Peanut in particular, challenged me. I value that I accepted the challenge. I value that Amy witnessed my journal. I value that I completed the challenge.

In my life I have learned many things about Physics, but it was my Mother who piqued my interest in Psychology. Learning about ones self seems more valuable. NaJoPoMo reminded me of several things about myself that I needed to remember. It also taught me a few new things.

As for “The Prize.” Well to be honest, I am not too sure. Perhaps I need to finish it just for the sake of finishing. In my world I usually look for “higher” motivations than that. Perhaps the “higher” purpose is to learn about myself by completing the project.

Thanx h2g2, et al.

When Tesla was in Colorado for a short time, he picked up a repetitive radio signal he could not explain. He told the press that, but offered the possibility that it was from Mars. The press made a big deal of that “news.” This is the main fact that links Tesla to aliens. Part of what I admire about Tesla was that he had the courage to speculate about what others would not speak about. That did not mean that he believed in Martians, it meant that he did not know it was not Martians.

The fact that he experimented with things that scientists of his day did not understand made him spooky. After Colorado in 1900, he started planning the Wardenclyffe Tower. Tesla’s claim that it could act like a death ray added to his demise. With JP Morgan stopping the Wardenclyffe project, Tesla’s reputation would never be the same. At some point Tesla developed even more controversial behaviors. In his old age, fact and story blended into unbelievable reports. Tesla became a recluse except for his pigeons.

Did Morgan break Tesla’s spirit or was it just a “natural” failing of the mind? We probably will never know, but either way, Tesla still deserved credit for what he did before his mental decline.

History has a “funny” way with the truth.

The History written about Nicola Tesla is intriguing to me for several reasons.
Most powerfully, his story seems to be generally misrepresented.
This point is only magnified by the fact that several disinformation views are popular.
Many of the disinformation stories are clearly rank amateur works that few rational people would accept.
Secondly, I lament my early education that glorified Edison to the utter exclusion of Tesla.
Thirdly, my first academic paper was about Tesla.
Let me end with the fact that of all the technical achievements of the Twentieth Century, I find the distribution of electrical power to be the most significant, bar none.

There are more, but enough said.

There seems no end to the different perspectives that his story can be viewed; ethics, technology, money, power, conspiracies, scientific credit, mental disorders, etc.

I recently stumbled upon some added information linking Tesla to J. P. Morgan. It may be rather common knowledge that Morgan financed the ill fated Wardenclyffe project. And before that, Morgan has backed Edison. But now I realize Morgan booted Edison out of General Electric while he also pushed George and Nicola out of Westinghouse Electric.

The ruthless tactics of Morgan and others of the time received little more that a slap on the hand.

Peanut asked of my 26 post:
oh dear smiley - sadface
what's going on here then? smiley - hug

So I shall post my 27 post:
The truth is that many things were going on there.
At one level, I posted a required post. That is not a very nice fact. At another level, I was outside the box on my 25 post and I liked the results well enough that followed that idea further. On 25 I used the titles of Beatle songs to express some thoughts. In 26 I paraphrased the lyrics if a song called “Monday, Monday.” Ostensibly they were both light-hearted commentaries. At some other level, Mondays are icons of the emotional blues.

At yet another level, I was feeling devoid of thoughts to express in this venue. I was happy to realize that the lack of feedback had such a profound effect on my writing. Ostensibly Peanut is lurking and Amy indicates she has faithfully visited each post. I sincerely admire both people and do not presume to expect more of them.

It is the social interaction that is proving more profound than I could have previously recognized. So the truth is that at some level, I am crying because of this effort. But that would not be the whole truth. My mood is also affected by a friend suffering from drug problems. Then a third person is getting sucked into the emotional maelstrom. Now I find myself needing to be strong enough let them go but still loving them. So sad. smiley - wah

Monday Monday, so bad of me,
Monday Monday, it was not all I wanted it to be
Oh Monday morning, Monday morning could have guaranteed
That Monday evening I would still be little ole me.

Monday Monday, can you love that day,
Monday Monday, sometimes it just turns sour that way
Oh Monday morning, you gave me no warning of what could be
Oh Monday Monday, how did you pass by and take me.

Every day, every day, goes away
Every day of the week is so fine, yeah
But whenever Monday comes, whatever Monday becomes
You will find me cryin' at this time
