Ah the wonder that is super glue. I nipped out first thing and got my self a tube of this and now have an albeit temporary, repair to my reading glasses. As the arm had broken by the hinge it does mean I must remember that that arm no longer folds so note to self:-
Do not fold glasses when taken off. Repeat
Do not fold glasses when taken off.
Its marvellous stuff that super glue though I never understood why if its so super does it not stick in the tube?
Anyway, at least its now more comfortable for reading and pc work again. I must chase up the laser surgery next week and then I can get some proper replacement glasses.
The toothache seems to have abated today so fingers crossed it stays away till I can get a dental apt tomorrow.
Right, I'm in process of doing some mega updating on the laptop so must get back to it. Have a good day folks, ttfn.

*Warning - I'm in a real grumpy mood*
Its been a cr*p day so far. First up a mega lump of filling complete with some tooth came out. I now have toothache and its agony with owt hot.
I then put me glasses on and start the pc. My glasses don't feel right somehow, I take them off thinking they probably want a good clean and lo and behold, the chuffing right arm comes off in me hand. Good ole gaffa tape to the rescue. No point having them repaired or replaced as I'm waiting on Laser surgery and will need a new prescription for lens anyway.
They say stuff happens in 3's, well the third thing is my TV Digi box, (recently replaced) has thrown a hissy fit now. It constantly goes into full re-set mode and is making watching TV a chuffin nightmare. I've now taken it out of circuit and just using the TV's inbuilt freeview system. At least that works. So all in all, a pretty cr*p day, I'm about to take some mega pain-killers for this toothache with a warm cup of Hope everyone else is having a better day. ttfn.

I don't normally go shopping on a Friday. Our local supermarket is usually a madhouse for one thing plus Tuesdays is usually my main shopping day. Today however, in light of a very iffy forecast for early next week I decided to nip out early and top up stocks just in case. Imagine my surprise when on arrival the car park to the store was virtually empty and there were more shop staff than customers. Now why is it when the place is so empty virtually every till was manned yet when the store is busy you're lucky if 3 out of 15 tills are manned?Anyway, shopping done, freezer topped up, extra soup in stock which is all well and good but after sitting down with a nice mug of I thought, what happens if the weather is so bad we get a power cut? We have no mains gas so I wouldn't be able to even make a drink let alone cook owt. Tomorrow I'm going to a camping/outdoor centre near here and I'm gonna get me a small camping gaz stove which I will store in our outside locker just in case.I have a good stock of 's and a couple of torches with new batteries. I guess this is called planning ahead somewhat. Hopefully it won't be needed but one never knows.
The only backup power we have is for the alarm systems and the emergency lighting for hall/stairs and entrance doors.
Right, that's it for today. All domestic chores done so time to put me feet up with a , have a good evening folks, stay warm, stay safe. ttfn.

Looks and feels like winter is starting to really bite now. I've turned all heating on now and it'll stay on for the foreseeable future. The forecast for early next week is for hard frosts and even a possibility of some
I've not done a fat lot today other than sort out/renew my broadband/tv package. Eventually got a deal that will mean a reduction of £12.00 a mth for the same level of service on a 12 mth contract. That means I get to keep me sport channels that show the cricket which is just fine and dandy with the Ashes Test starting down under from the 20th. I won't get to watch them live as they're on overnight so it'll mean trying to avoid news till I see the extended highlights programme the following day.
On that note, time to sort some fodder again and then maybe put a film or 2 on for the rest of the day.
Have a good evening folks, ttfn.

Re-washing the items from the airing cupboard/asbestos fiasco seems to have done the trick. The 'chemical' smell is now replaced by a more delicate fresh softner smell. It looks as though my hootoo 'T' shirt has survived the ordeal so all is well again.
I've not done much today other than play on the pc in between watching some classic comedies on TV. I'm currently watching Series 2 of Open All Hours starring Ronnie Barker and David Jason. I have the full box set including the pilot episode and it really is a gem of a collection. As funny today as when it first aired in the late 70's, early 80's.
If there's nowt else on TV later, (which having had a quick look doesn't appear to be owt on worth watching) I may watch Series 3 and 4 as well.
Right, time for some fodder then settle down with me feet up again.
Hope everyone has had a good day, ttfn.
