This is an interesting sort of page... I shall have to get off my hind quarters and switch over to Goo when I feel brave enough. (No, no newbies here... We are not harboring newbies....)

Umm, hello, randomly, and all that.

it began simple, like my name(originally just "Minesweep Goddess"), but i kept adding bits on, and now look at it! oh well. no reason to be nervous about Goo.smiley - smiley it's quite friendly.

Yes, I;m still tyring to figure out how to go about teaching myself GuideML. I have had much less time since I realised how much work I had to do for my class (mostly reading), and I've gotten sucked into 3 different fiction worlds. It can be wuite taxing. But it does explain my 3-week absence (me bad llama) from the Guide.

What I need is a really fast connection, like something better than 56k through university modem pool.

smiley - wizard

I'm just in a wizard sort of mood today.

to learn Guide-ML: go here http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/GuideML-Clinic whenever you want to know how to do something. (or click on "edit entry" and then on "click here for help on writing your entry" for an intro in case you haven't got that far) pretty soon you'll pick it up.smiley - smiley if you see something you like on someone's page, you can either a)ask how they did it or b)if you think you can recognize it when you see it you can use the url to see the GuideML code for the page. user pages are http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/testuserpage###### where ###### is replaced by the number of the page. regular pages are http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/testpage######. you can then scroll through the code and copy and paste to wherever you want it.

and, time is a problem for all us serious addicts....

3 weeks?!!?! you are stronger than i, i would have been searching for a computer, any computer with net access, after only a few days and would then need a hit, oops i mean session, of several hours.

Well, as I've explained, I have not yet been fully engulfed. I haven't even done a Guide entry yet. I barely know a few smiley codes by heart.

I've been a bit more attentive, though, due to a restructuring of my day... Indeed, this is the second time in as many days that I've been on. And someone actually popped into my personal space! Now things are getting interesting!

smiley - tea

I'm going to go blitz out on GuideML stuff now. My personal space will be interesting before the year is up! And I've done journal entries now, too!

..Yeah, the only reason I have access as easy as I do is that my account is through my university, and my computer is fairly new. He is a happy computer. And my university is a machine so beaurocratic no force on Earth can stop it. Hence, never mroe than a few hours in rare circumstances am I without a connection.

But good addictions take a while to sink in.... smiley - bunny

Hey, I'm getting there. I can add stuff, edit stuff, and sometimes I'm so confident about it that I don't even preview - I know it;s fine so I just update. smiley - smiley

I know most of the smileys, but I check the list in the same way that people check the fridge when they want a snack... Not because they don't know what's in there, but staring at the options helps. smiley - winkeye

Anyway, I'm very late in replying to this, as I recently discovered - or rather became consciously aware of - the "older postings" and "other conversations"... So I'm going through, replying to things that disappeared from my main page before I replied, and burying dead conversations.

But hey, drop by or something - my space is almost interesting now. smiley - biggrin

*bows* Thank you, Master.

I have much to learn in the ways of GuideML. And I've actually succeeded in being absent for as much as two or three days! Though I need to learn pop-up menus soon.... Lots of names to add to my page sos I can remember who I've met....

Hey, drop by and post to my space if you know of something interesting I should add. I usually try to keep a piece of paper around because people mention things in postings elsewhere, but the paper's getting full with stuff I haven't added yet... and it floats around getting lost in my small but bepapered apartment...
