Hi Nexus - we met briefly at the November Meet-up last year I thought I'd drop in and say hello and to ask you about a curious thing that happened the other day. I recently bought a copy of Black and White for the P.C. While scanning through the various forums at the oficial site I noticed another Nexus 7 had been posting there. Just out of curiosity, was it you or your namesake?

Hi Clive! smiley - smiley

Unfortunately it wasn't me; I'm currently living in a state of envy about all you desktop owners who've got sufficient 3D acceleration to play B&W, whereas owners of even expensive laptops, like myself, can only twiddle our thumbs and covet from afar. smiley - sadface

I can only assume that my namesake derived his handle from the same source as me - ie the generation of replicants in Bladerunner are Nexus-6, so calling myself 'NexusSeven' was a sly way of saying that I'm even better than Rutger Hauer et al. smiley - winkeye

Now, please don't tell me how fantastic B&W is or I may be forced to resort to melancholy. smiley - biggrin

O.k you have my sympathies - I won't tell you how aboslutly fantastic B+W is: How superb the graphics are and how staggeringly intelligent the much vaunted AI really is or how some of the tasks have been created by the most cunning and devious artfiers and how involving the plot line is. And as for the gesture Miracle system...

So, there you go, all of these things I promise I will not go on about at length. smiley - devilsmiley - winkeye

However, it may be of comfort to you to know that if it makes you feel any better the game pauses every 5 - 10 mins on mine and freezes for a few minutes while it thinks about *something* and my comp's only a year old! smiley - cry

Blade Runner...Hmmm....Ah-ha! but which do you prefer - director's cut or Voice-over version?

Both versions are fantastic, IMO. People go on about the Director's Cut being superior, but if they hadn't have seen the original with voiceover, they might not have had a clue what was going on. smiley - winkeye

I'm glad you decided not to get me all miserable by telling me how underwear-destroyingly fabbo B&W is. Most considerate of you. smiley - winkeye Bummer about the pausing though. smiley - sadface
Running Baldur's Gate II is a bit like that on mine; I get a BSOD or irreversible halt every other session on it, it seems. smiley - sadface Darned buggy games. Bleedin' useless DirectX. smiley - sadface

I'm with you on the blade runner thing (not thursday), i love both. that bit where rutger dies i think works best on the voice over version. whereas the end is much more complete on the dir. cut.
Like that other great movie, 2001, you need a bit of background to really understand them.( couldnt that equally be classed as a flaw though?)

I heard a convincing explanation of 2001 - if I can find the article I'll paraphrase it. The more you watch it; the more it does make some sembelance of sense but whatever it is still a fantastic film!
