It is warm moist and overcast outside. Not the most energising of weather.
I have come to a dead halt re. all my Uni &c work. I have completely lost momentum and just cant summon up the energy to re-apply myself to the grindstone.
Susan is out delivering veg boxes. I'm planning to do bacon, black pudding, beans & toast for tea - a classic light summer meal.
I see the London bombers got life sentences with minimum 40-year terms. To put that figure into context, Myra Hindley served 36 years from 1966 - 2002. Rudolf Hess served 41 years. Both were released from gaol by death only. I don't expect that I'll be around to see the release of the London bombers. Neither, I suspect, will they. Meanwhile, I see that the severely-burnt Glasgow Airport terror attack suspect is still receiving treatment, with 90% burns. I am not particularly bloodthirsty, but part of me experiences a warm glow of... well, I don't know: not schadenfreude, not satisfaction, not vengefulness... but there is an element of bloody wells serves him right in there, like when the hangman falls off the scaffold and breaks his neck.
I have to do an expenses claim for my work. The claim involves filling in an Excel spreadsheet. Here are the instructions:
"Completing expenses template;
"Step 1 - key in the total receipt value in the total column, the VAT will calculate automatically.
"Step 2 - if the item is exempt of VAT (such as travel) delete the answer in the VAT column.
"Step 3 – you can now manually calculate the total minus VAT and enter the answer in the appropriately headed column OR you can enter a formula to calculate for you. The formula will always be =C#-D#, # being the spreadsheet row number. Once you have keyed in this formula to any of the cells you can simply cut & paste it into all of the other cells where you require the answer; row numbers in the formula will automatically adjust when you cut & paste.
"Accuracy check – the totals in the blue cells at the bottom of the spread sheet should be equal to the total expense in bold at the start of that row.
"Notes; any cell showing a series of ##### can be simply corrected by sitting the cursor in the cell, choosing ‘Format’ ‘Column’ then ‘AutoFit Selection’.
"Always start with a blank template to ensure the VAT calculation formula will still be in all cells of the VAT column."

There's a rather good Aifternoon Play on R4 at the minute - all about Sheridan and the Prince Regent - The Regent's Tale.
I have washed the windows and the living-room curtains. The curtains are drying on the line. One of the linings was sun-rotted, and tore; I had to stitch it up. It is a bonny nice bricht day.
The new internet setup is working well. Fast.
The Aiberdeen Trades Fortnight starts today. It's a local holiday, and the Uni. is closed.
"Butted to death by a thousand goats nead Minsk."
... a line from the R4 play. Quite a good one. The play stars Richard E Grant as RBS.
Bolognese for tea. Made. In the pan.

I went to visit Peet this aifternoon.
I went to Morrisons first to buy two bootles of their cheapest white wine. Well, their second cheapest white wine - even I don't do Lambrusco.
The guy ahead of me in the queue waves me on. He said "I see you've got your lunch sorted". (Cheeky Cat).

PS Beebee looks really well.
