The satsumas from my father's tree have been quite prolific, juicy and delicious this year.

Reckon I might have to visit a few garden centres and see what they have, although that damn squirrel is *still* knocking my plants over and taking bites out of anything it can

I wonder if you can get deadly nightshade in Texas?

We haven't had any critters munching on the oranges. We have a heck of a time with peaches, but they leave the satsumas alone. And the tree we have would fit on an apartment patio/balcony; if it gets enough sunlight.

I wouldn't mind having a fruit-bearing tree. But it wouldn't be an orange tree. Oranges are little b@$t@rd$, looking all shiny and juicy and making you want an orange, and you peel it and take a wedge... and it's more sour than a lemon.

I've been gone awhile, can we swear now, or is that going to get modded?

I'd really like an apple tree. And a blackberry bush. But since my house is on rented land, I won't plant anything.

You'd like Hyp's yard, Gosho. She's got all kinds of fruit trees, and a huge garden as well.

I read somewhere that if you plant an apple seed, you'll get a different kind of apple tree. Apparently apple cultivation is a complicated affair.

I think there are some fruit trees that only produce fruit once one season. One of those would be satisfactory for rental property.

You're right about apples, so I understand. Which is why apple trees are usually propagated from cuttings. So I understand.

Two weeks before Christmas:

It's 75°. I'm in a t-shirt. The windows are open. The trees are only just starting to lose their leaves.

No, talking and texting are banned at the Alamo Drafthouse because that's their policy on all films.

I saw something wondrous the other day. I was reading an article on the CBC.CA website. And at the end of the article there was a glorious link titled: _Report Typos_

I haven't made puff pastry since school, but I can imagine that if I did it now, I would find it very therapeutic. All that folding and rolling. I would possibly revert to the disposable piping bag for distributing even-sized dollops of butter between the layers.

Wouldn't that be rough puff pastry? Puff pastry has one single pat of butter that gets rolled into many layers.

Oh, yes - probably. As I say, haven't made it since 1966 (we had cookery only in the 1st and 2nd forms, and I started grammar school in 1965)
