It's "fall back". The alarm will go off an hour later.

That's right. We get an extra hour in bed, so I might wake up at what was 4am, but now it'll be 3am.

And it was 4am again this morning smiley - headhurts The clock read 4.20 when I decided to turn on the light after I'd been awake for a while.

I reckon the rain that was pouring onto my roof, overflowing the gutter and splashing onto the balcony played a big part in that. So I turned on the radio and lay in bed listening to the World Service for an hour. Time was that my alarm would have been set for 7am so I'd have rolled over and tried to get back to sleep. There's not point in doing that though when you're alarm's set for 5.30.

Slept all the way through to the (5.30am) alarm this morning* smiley - biggrin Maybe I can do the same tomorrow when the alarm will be set for 6.30 because it's Saturday smiley - ok

*I was having a rather good dream at the time though smiley - flustered

Woke up, tossed and turned for about 15 minutes, decided I wasn't going to get back to sleep, turned on the radio. An American accent - that means it's after 5am and it's Morning Edition rather than the World Service. Now, what time is?

6.20.

I'm happy with that* smiley - ok

*Not something you'd have heard me say until the last year or two.

You can call me TC

Where was it you were complaining about L being a bit of a wimpy Roman Numeral? I can't find the thread.

Anyway, I just wanted to say that we were staying right near the Levi's Stadium where the Super Bowl L will be taking place. I'm glad we won't be there on that day. Whilst staying in Santa Clara we experienced at least 3 events there (49ers games)

Why have I got such a head this morning? smiley - headhurts Aspirin required. I certainly didn't get drunk last night - I only had one shot of whisky and a 12oz bottle of 5.5% beer. This one, actually http://www.communitybeer.com/#!public-ale/c1p07 Brewed in Dallas and really rather good.

No, I don't think that was me, TC. Leastways, I don't remember that conversation. I do remember sitting down, in London, at 11.30pm on a Sunday night, to watch SuperBowl XX though. Was that really 30 years ago? smiley - online2long

I almost typed in those brackets smiley - laugh

::THINKS:: Old Star Wars toys are known to sell for outrageously large amounts nowadays. If I'd bought some of those and held on to them until now I could possibly have retired on the proceeds. So should I buy some of these ones, tied in with the new Star Wars film, that are in this Christmas catalogue I just got in the mailbox? Or are my chances of living until they become collectable not on, actuarily speaking?

Post 674

Absolutely not!

The reason the original toys are can fetch astronomical prices is because so few of them weren't played with, hard. Also, toy collecting wasn't a thing in in 1977.

Also, they will make millions of them. Disney Corp is the king of merch. If you want to buy some just to sit on your shelf, that's fine, but they will never be worth much more than you pay for them.

Always hard to say with things like that!

Although, now that the precedent is known of figures being worth big bucks, there will probably be more made, and more collected and carefully kept, so there will probably be a lot more of these ones around in years to come, reducing the value.

As well as "geekiness" being mainstream now, which also means there'll be more collected and kept mint.

Yeah, keeping them in the box was what I had in mind. Now that I'm fast approaching 60 though, it's probably a little too late to make it worthwhile to benefit from the collectability factor smiley - senior

"If you are fortunate enough to hunt an area where you can take up to five deer, please do so," Lockwood said. "And if that’s more meat than you want in your freezer, donate your venison to Hunter for the Hungry or some other charitable cause."

I'm not squeamish (or squirmish) about killing and butchering animals, or about hunting. The idea of shooting an animal for food is something I have no problems with, and the only reason I haven't done it so far since moving to Texas is that I don't really know anyone in my immediate circle of friends who does it and who I could go out with. But if I did, I wouldn't hesitate.

Kettles are getting a bit above themselves now, aren't they? Glass kettles, glass kettles with LED illumination, digital kettles.

We must be a shallow lot, us humans, when we need bells and whistles (oh, wait kettles do have whistles smiley - blush) for a thing that only boils water.

I just watched a consumer report type story on the local news for a battery powered spout for drinks bottles, like juice and milk.

It actually makes sense for little kids and the elderly, but still. We're finding ways to put batteries in things that really shouldn't need batteries.
