2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side...

Royal family I couldn't find a single laugh in... League of gentlemen was good though smiley - zen FAwlty towers still kinda works for me... as can pythons sometimes, and blackadder (but helps I've not seen any of them in decades now, so maybe I could revisit again and still find some humour left...) smiley - zen

The Royle Family struck a chord with me. If I didn't know better I'd swear Caroline Ahern had used my mother's side of the family as a template/inspiration for the series. I could walk into that house and feel perfectly at home.

She hadn't, of course. They could be any one of tens of thousands of northern working class families.

Have you watched The IT Crowd yet?

I've seen some of the first series, maybe the first disc? I liked it.

Nope. All those fancy players like that one and the BBC iPlayer are UK only, although it's possible to go through a proxy that fools them into thinking that's where you are. But I can get the DVDs from Netflix.

I did wonder.

I really like The IT Crowd, it just manages to straddle amusing and cringe-making for me. They have just made the final episode too, and I think they managed to capture the spirit really well, just the the new series of Red Dwarf.

I think I might have uncovered at least one reason for posts dropping off around h2g2.

I've found myself tweeting things that I would otherwise have posted here in my journal, and since some of the people following me there are also subscribed here it seems a bit redundant to post the same thing in both places.

I have to figure that it could be the same with others and Facebook, although I don't play with Mark Zuckerberg's horrible little toy so I can't be certain.

Hmm...you could be right, on that. Then there is blogging. I know at least a couple of others (including myself) who have blogs, because it's easier to use photographs, and various other things.

The Strangerers! I absolutely loved that. I wish they'd repeat it, it was so totally... out there.

As for Twitter - I'm an addict, I'm afraid. But it is the best way to watch live TV these days. (or University Challenge etc) And I love facebook because it has so many different uses for me.

Sorry 'bout that.

I'd never heard of Strangerers until I happened to be reading about Absolutely after their Sketchorama reunion earlier this year and found out they'd formed a production company and made other programmes. I know it was originally broadcast just after I arrived here but I usually keep my finger on the pulse of that sort of thing, although the fact it was on Sky might have something to do with me missing it. I found out about Royle Family, for instance, from seeing it on BBC America, but that wasn't the case with Early Doors or Black Books.

It is a very, very weird show, but very funny smiley - biggrin

"A single series was made with a total of 9 episodes (the first being 1 hour in length and the rest 30 minutes each). The show ended on a cliffhanger. It has not been released on DVD, nor repeated since its original run."

smiley - erm Hmmm... Doesn't look like I'll be watching it on Netflix any time soon.

HAH!... I thought this was in Ask and I actually considered your reaction to the dreaded erm and decided to go with it only because I thought it was in Ask.

Now I need a smiley - doh!

Sorry.

I can't keep up with twitter... so I stopped trying for the most part. I rarely check it on weekends anymore. I'll check it a couple of times at work when I think of it. Usually I'll try to catch up from yesterday in the mornings as much as I can, then if I get behind, I just leave it.

That's one think I really do like about h2g2... As long as I manage my convo list, I can catch up at my leisure.

with Twitter you have to live in the moment - or follow so few people that it's manageable.

And stay away from the hashtag games - you can lose a whole weekend looking at one of those.
