I don't know about a mild winter, the size of the wooly-worm I nearly ran over the other day argues otherwise. (Seriously, he was huge! Would have left a noticeable spot if I'd squished him).

It's been very mild in the Lou the last week or so. AC has been off for a week, and it was only 69 in the house yesterday morning. My threshold for not freezing in the house is 70, so.... Actually, I refuse to turn on the heat in September, that's just silly. But we did bake some pizzas for dinner last night so the oven would warm up the house a bit. Bumped it back up to 73 smiley - smiley

Highs of 70 today and tomorrow, low 70s Sunday, 78 Monday. Hopefully we can go another week or two before turning on any AC/heat.

My brother in law was in Austin last week, I'll have to ask him if he found your cider when I see him tonight smiley - cheers

I can't wait for the winter (all two Texas weeks of it smiley - winkeye) and the oven blazing away heating up the apartment and gushing forth all kinds of belly ballast smiley - drool

This summer really doesn't want to let go.

Today: 91F, tonight 70F
Wednesday: 90/72
Thursday: 90/70

The average for this time of the year is 86/64, but after a cold front on Friday (84/59) we have a nice weekend in store with temperatures in the mid to upper 70s and mid 50s at night smiley - biggrin

10 day forecast is for temperatures under 100F/32C, with a ten percent chance of rain M 10 10 2016.

Oh yes, rained last month on the 20th, but I slept through it.

3 days late for first rain of an optimal year, but maybe the drought is breaking,

Forget those 70s at the weekend. Now it's mid 80s during the day and around 60 at night. Around average for early October.

Mine went on at 6.15am. It shouldn't be doing that in October.

For, I think, the third time in a month I find myself thinking "Thank Bob this is the last day of heat before the comfortable autumn temperatures arrive".

I can't wait until we can turn off the a/c here. My parents bought some new carpet and linoleum and had it installed last week. The fumes from the carpet are coating inside of my mouth and nasal passages. smiley - yuk

I want to open the doors and windows for at least a week to let their house air out. Probably wouldn't hurt to vacuum it in 24 hour shifts until then.

On a side note, it was less than 24 hours after installation that I severely damaged the new linoleum. My mother asked me to straighten her fridge. I assumed it had the usual round adjustable feet and tried to twist and pivot it around. Instead it has unidirectional rollers that dig in when shoved off axis. They left several tears in the soft lino. The ones that aren't under the fridge I stretched back out and flattened as best I could and the random pattern hide them mostly, but I know they're there and much worse under the fridge and just feel shitty about it.

It's a might chilly in here this morning smiley - brr It's in the low 50s outside, and we haven't seen temperatures like that since early May. My a/c thermostat says 65°, but my Thermapen and the readout on my cooking thermometer (also made by Thermoworks so I trust what they say) both read 72.

It'll be a little warmer this time tomorrow, but a whole lot warmer in the morning by the middle and the end of the week - back into overnight 70s, and upper 80s to 90 during the day smiley - sadface

Holding on to the mild weather here. Got kind of warm in the house around last Thursday, maybe up to 83 or so, then a front came through overnight and the high on Friday was 70 so that brought it back into a comfortable range. Had to close up the windows though, because it got downright chilly Friday night, into the 40s.

We had a fundraiser run/walk Saturday morning, and I think it was 46 when we left the house at 8 am. I have never done one of these, and am somewhat disabled, so I was a little nervous about it. But it was for the youngest's school, and he really wanted me to participate, so I did it. And I finished it, too. Thirty seven minutes to go a mile, finished last, but I finished!

And then I won a beautiful hand thrown pottery mug with a raffle ticket. It's gorgeous, and I immediately took it home and brewed some tea for it. smiley - tea

We had a company picnic, and the local Renaissance Faire later in the day Saturday, it was a perfect day for it. I found a great pair of hand made glass dragon earrings, and a necklace with a pendant made of chain mail.

Still lovely out, no rain in the forecast until at least Wednesday. smiley - biggrin

Temperatures forecast for the next ten days in the 90s F/32C - 38C.

Lots of vanishing pool mirages on the highway today.

The only actual water I saw was from an agricultural irrigation system.

One of my A/Cs was turned off for nearly a day. I had to turn the bedroom A/C back on earlier... can't sleep in a swamp.

Rain today, temps dropping throughout the day from a high mid-70s
High tomorrow 61
High Friday 62
High Saturday 86 smiley - yikes

AC has been off for about two weeks, heat hasn't been on yet (although I'm sure Friday morning is going to be a close thing).

Mine's just gone on. At 6.45am. On October 13th. And between now and next Tuesday it's going to get even warmer. It seems like the weather's been a blunt sawtooth waveform for the past five or six weeks - a cold from making things nice for a few days, followed by a climb back to summer, which lasts four or five days, then another cold front, then the same cycle all over again.

Which all goes to mean we won't be getting an autumn again this year.
