This is a bit more like it.

On the way home from work this morning (8am - 9am) I was actually a little bit chilly because of the stiff northerly breeze blowing. It was 58F/14.4C. The same time yesterday it was 72/22.2, on the way up to 87/30.6 - 10°F above average

Today though, we've barely made it to the same temperature it was at 8am yesterday

The forecast for the weekend and the first half of next week has changed somewhat from a few days ago... naturally. It was nothin' but low and mid 80s, with a good chance of rain over the weekend. Now there's only one day (Monday) with an 80° forecast, and 60%-70% chances of rain and severe storms over the weekend, and pleasant low to mid 70° temperatures through until next Thursday, at least

Well, I've been carrying my umbrella for almost week now and have yet to open it in anger. Even yesterday, when there were forecasts of rain and storms (60%), we only got a brief shower, and not a heavy one. So now the forecast is for 80% tonight.

We'll see.

Oh, and all those low to mid 80s next week that were more pleasant 70s a few days ago? Back to low and mid 80s again

We've had more than three inches of rain here since Friday, 55/100ths fell in under an hour this morning.

Finally, it looks there's activity on the radar. A big band of storms is heading this way from the southeast. It's currently giving San Antonio a good seeing to and looks like it might get here around midnight.

Yesterdays weather report from Buxton.
Start pleasant but chilly warm in the sun.
Of course this changed to absolutly tossing it down, when I was halfway across the big park with no cover.
Result... a half drowned BB despite waterproofs.
Had to take refuge in the Buxton Tap House to dry out (externally) whilst getting suitably fed and watered.

Todau I'll be driving into the Houston med center facing heavy rains, one tv weather girl predicting some cells dropping rain at the equivalent of 6 inches per hour. Undoubtedly this will mean street flooding. The last time I got stuck in flooded Houston streets my 1 hour drive in took me six hours to get back home.



Oh, and my dad just checked his gauge for CoCoRAHS. We has 0.8" yesterday.

I didn't mean to sound like a lolcat. My thumb touched the s rather than the d next to it.

We has hardly any rain last night. By the time that band of storms got to Austin, it had all but dissipated and dissolved. I heard a some rain outside around 1am, but it gave us all of nine hundredths of an inch. And after the pleasantly cool temperatures of the weekend we're back to 84° today.

Back nearer normal today in Nodnol max here about 15C / 60F, feels quite cold after yesterday.

The first proper thunder (ie, non-stop rolling thunder) of the season is in the distance and getting closer, and as I write there's a flash of lightning. A quick look at the radar... yellows, reds, and a few purples the south-west, heading this way. And there's a severe thunderstorm watch until 3am.

Sunny and fair here, more's the pity.

It looks like it's going to slide south of Austin, and we'll get enough to wet the ground. San Marcos, which always seems to get hammered, is getting hammered.
