More storms in the vicinity this morning. Tantalisingly close but not coming this way. Yet. At least the cloud cover is keeping is keeping the sun from warming up the roofspace, even though it was 81º at 7.30am.

I'm hoping for rain here, except for the hours of 11:00am to 2:00pm and from 4:00pm to 6:00pm... I'm on the bike.

That's as far as I got just now (thanks to Firefox's 'Your last session ended unexpectedly' feature for bringing it back) before the power went off a few minutes ago, just for a few moments, but long enough to turn off the PC.

If today wasn't may day off, this rain would have happened just as I was about to step out the front door and head off to the bus stop, and continue as I got off the bus and walked to work. And if it had come 10 or 15 minutes later I'd have been on my way to the supermarket, which I normally do around this time on one of my days off each week. Either way I'd have got soaked.

We've had a lot of lightning in the past 20 minutes or so...

Go to the farmer's market, get your veggies and fruit and that way you won't have to worry about washing them after you get home.

Looking at the radar it seems like it's going to be some time before I can get out, which is particularly frustrating because I'm only getting one day off this week - today - and I really hate going to the supermarket after about 11am because it starts filling up. However, the rain has lowered the temperature to a very pleasant 75F, so now would be a good time to do the baking I wanted to do this week

There's not a farmers' market anywhere around me anymore. I used to live in a "rural" area and have seen all the farm land covered in "master planned communities" full of McMansions and cookie-cutter homesteads.

I haven't seen rain in at least three weeks.
The grass is actually crunchy!

Camp Mabry recorded 0.39" this morning but I suspect we got a bit more than that here in south Austin. It's now sunny and 87F, which is about 20F cooler than this time yesterday, and quite possibly a few degrees cooler than London was this afternoon, but it's also considerably more humid.

There's rain on the radar again this morning. I hope it hits at about the same time as it did yesterday - today I have to go in earlier than usual because it's the first of the month, and that means inventory. I have to get in 30 minutes before the opening bartender so that I can count all the bottles in the beer coolers before the opener starts doing what he has to do.

Looks like we got about a tenth of an inch this morning, but now it's very sunny and very humid and 90F, which I believe is about what it's been in London most days so far this week.

According the eight-day forecast it's supposed to go down to 46F/7.8C tonight That's a 40° drop from where it is now

Looks like the respite is over The forecast for the next four days is 100°+ and sunny, then three days of 98 and 99 before going back to three figures. The 0.6" of rain recorded over the past few days were nice but nowhere near enough to assuage the drought we're in. I hear that La Nina might be on the fade and El Nino on the rise, which means (they say) that wetter and cooler weather might be more prominent next summer.

And another new temperature record - 104F/40C yesterday at Camp Mabry. We'll probably do it again today.
