Great,at last then Ham,retirement ! Well, this opens unfortold amounts of doors now....Making more music, getting out and about on your bike, walks with Lorna, not to mention considering a complete new change of career, learning the art of floristy, with me as your teacher, you'll be a floral designer before you can say 'orchids'.The new outlook is boundless. Also, think of the HUGE,LONG msgs you can send to me daily ? I'm beginning to wish summer was come and gone now,August isn't arriving quickly enough ! Then, with all of these opportunities in the offing, someone ,somewhere will be offering you full-time employment, and by September you'll be telling me you don't have time to learn the floral business at all...life just isn't fair is it ? Seems to me, I'm doomed to be a lone worker,no partnerships for me ! .....Cats ! Well, you have to respect their independence Ham,and their willfulness (espiecally when it comes to being violent towards puppies) I think I have said before,I do love all animals, even insects ,apart from spiders...But, I confess,I do melt when I see a puppy.I think it's the neediness..I know what I mean...cats just don't need anyone, dogs on the otherhand,do...God,I sound like a mother hen hahahaha When I come to think about it,I AM a mother hen, very protective (OK,over protective) and quite caring really,(thats top secret OK ? I have to keep the outward appearance as one of, the 'matter of fact hard business woman',completely unafraid of doing battle with bank managers, accountants and robbing flower wholesalers.I know my secret is safe with you Ham )..'Any Other News '....The weather was beautiful today, but right now,it is raining ,windy and cold! I took the day off today, did a shop till I drop in Clevelys, tidied the house and actually got rid of a few cobwebs from the ceiling in the hall ! Not exactly the spring clean I had in mind ,but Rome wasn't built in a day right ? Today Rome, tomorrow the world, who knows ? OK,I will leave you in peace for now Ham,see how much I think of you ? Sadly,I will return tomorrow, with much more drivel for you to read hahaha (Go on,admit it,you can't wait can you ? hahahha OR perhaps you can !!! hahaha) Speak soon Ham.You take care, lots of love Pinky XXXXXXXXXX

Hello Pinky. I'm going to get the lawnmower out this morning, well it'll be afternoon if I don't get going, I can waste time with the best of them, I'm chitting my tatties as well, never grew spuds much, well they've always been a pretty miserable failure when I have, but I'm going to have a go this year. I had a good weekend, went to Reading with a couple of old mates to watch the footie on Saturday, and even better, Kevin is starting to work his magic at Newcastle, I'm still buzzing about that. It looks like the Mackems have made themselves safe too, we play you lot in a couple of weeks, should be interesting but I'm glad it doesn't look like being a relegation battle, my nerves wouldn't stand it! I've had Emails from New Zealand, Shropshire and Canada this morning, it's fantastic isn't it? I still can't get used to it, I love electronic mail, one was from a Social Worker I used to work with who went back to New Zealand, now has two kids. I doubt if we would have kept in touch by letter, similarly an old rugby mate who I haven't seen for years got my address from somewhere and contacted me out of the blue, and of course my family in Canada. I pruned everything, (well foliage wise) yesterday, so the garden looks a lot tidier, so I'm going to give it a haircut before my missus comes home from work, or she'll think I've just idled the day away! Love, Ham.

I agree Ham,it is pretty awesome, technology I mean.It still astonishes me,how fast a reply comes from relatives I have in New Zealand and Australia. My aunty, the rich eccentric one I have told you about ,she has just returned from Panama,I sent her a mail, she was, just by chance on line at the same time, pure luck,we had a lovely conversation for half an hour and yes,it is amazing !Makes the world even smaller, people closer....It was my birthday yesterday (ALMOST an April Fool, but not quite hahaha) I had a lovely day,a family meal (Italian) everyone had a great time.I am 21 hahaha OK OK,it's April Fools Day,but you were pretty stunned for a second there now, admit it Ham hahahahahahaha Such an intelligent 21yr old you thought..I know these things hahahahahaha Me Mam reckons I was 21 when I was born hahahaha Yes,we're doing OK with the footie at the moment Ham,off the relegation list anyway ,thank God,my nerves would have been shattered..I can't stand the stress .....To be honest,I have every faith in Kevin ,always fair and a damn good manager I think ! Right,I must get moving Ham,work..back to the grind and reality.See you later ,hope you got the grass mowed intime by the way ? hahaha You take care Lots of Love Pinky XXXXXXXXX

Just missed you darn it, I've got all the water off while I fit new kitchen taps, one of those swivel jobbies, trouble with fitted kitchens you have to take everything apart before you can do anything, it's a right B mess at the moment. Anyway I've done the hard bit and I've just got to go and get two half inch copper to irons, male iron you'll be interested to know, and then I'll spend the rest of the day struggling to put it all back together. Yeah Pinky, many happy returns, I'll send you a kiss, X, but I'd rather be there to give you one. I saw your addendum to my one and only foray into learning on this temple of academia, back to the plumbing I suppose! Love, Ham.

The days when when me Dad put a bowl under the sink, fiddled around a bit,new taps just appeared as if by magic ? Now,it's like a complete new kitchen refurbishment job,and thats just to change the washers ! All modern technology isn't for the best after all.....I am nursing a silly cold, spending fortunes at the chemists again. No the wonder he smiles everytime I walk in,I'm paying for his 2 weeks in Benalmedana ..Oh yes,I know everything about him now,he's even told me which sandwich filling is best to buy from the new sandwich place thats opened near to my shop ....cheese,tomato,mixed with spring onions (scallions to those of us with breeding of course. They look at you stupid if you ask for scallions in Lancashire) He'll be inviting me to family B-B-Q next, just you wait and see !!!! He's making brewsters out of me ......Sorry we missed each other again,by minutes, well an hour it seems, but who's counting ? One day soon, hopefully we will be online together.Hope the new taps went on OK Ham ? Speak to you soon XXXXXX Take care Lots of Love Pinky XXXXXXXX

You know Pinky we're stuck in a timewarp. I'm listening to Hancocks Half Hour as I write this. Yes the taps went on OK, but I've got no faith in the darn things, all this swivel and mixing in the taps, it's all more to go wrong, I wouldn't know where to start putting a washer on, and I'm a qualified plumber, but they're nice I suppose. You got a cold then? The scallions will help clear the heed hinny, funny enough I picked a load a couple of days ago, they overwinter quite well, you plant them in late September and just leave them. I'm on me own pet, they've all gone out and left me to watch my granddaughter in her school play, she's got nine words to speak, and I'll bet she steals the show, she's as histrionic as they come. Still dieting conscientiously, but nowhere near where I need to be. Work tomorrow, first time this week, and I don't want to go! I might win the lottery tonight, chance would be a fine thing, and there's the National on Saturday. I always have a daft tenner, haven't looked at the card yet, I do like a bet very occasionally, just the Geegies, I hate slot machines like poison, I would ban the darned things if I had my way. Hey remember when we were talking about the super Casino? It's not happening at all now, thanks to our wonderful Prime Minister! As if there's not enough gangsterism in Manchester already, it would have been a complete disaster. Eee I'm havering hinny, but it's always a pleasure to talk to you. I'm back at your old gaff on Friday, I've actually rejoined, the boss is a great lad, he's promised us a lock in, a late night guitar session after the ballroom, he plays a bit himself. To be honest, I usually have more than a couple at the Ballroom, so it could be fun. Oh our recording is done, I'm waiting for the CD to arrive reports are positive! Well sweetheart, I've rambled enough for now, Love Ham.

Hi Ham,so sorry for the delay in my reply..this cold, can't get rid of it,but it's a bit better ,I suppose !! Hope all went well on Friday.Doesn't seem to have changed much, they still enjoy their lockins then ? hahahaha Hope you had a good night, even if you couldn't see your guitar hahahaha Like you ,I don't mind having on bet on the horses Ham,I always put a few bob on the National.Mine came in 4th,I didn't bet each way,so really,I lost ! BUT,there is a God,Sunderland won and Newcastle didn't do too badly either hahahaha Hey,we're doing OK....shhhhhh lets not push our luck eh ? OK,your diet,I've told you this before, and if you'd just listen...make your first drink of the day, cooled boiled water and fresh lemon OK ? You'll be like an adonis before you know it (I KNOW,your already an adonis, but I mean, you'll be even more adonis like if you just suffer the lemon water for a few weeks OK ?) Honestly, you'll be thanking me ,just you wait and see ! When does your granddaughter star in her school play ? I am sure she'll be the perfect diva,no worries....And yes,I know,we said this didn't we ? What good was a super casino going to do in Manchester anyway ? Eeeee,we should be running this country Ham,a bit of class, thats what they need down there in London ! I'll begin our campaign when I get rid of this cold OK ? Pinky, how's things? I meant to write yesterday but I was on all day putting it up in the bedroom, coving that is, we're decorating. The time simply flies by these days, I'm actually at work in Wycombe as I write, had a quiet day on duty for a change and I'm just winding down, and thought I've been neglecting my mate. Actually I'm off tomorrow, but that's going to be a whole day preparing my application for re-registration for my place on the General Council registration list. I got a nasty shock when I looked through my e-mails to see that it had lapsed, only by a couple of days, but I've supposed to have been keeping a record of training etc and of course I haven't bothered, I'll have to comb through my diaries. There's always something to worry me honest, it's my own fault for being so disorganised. The record isn't half bad, we sound good on some, rubbish on others, but the good time feel comes through it which is what we are about. Remember I told you about the fiddle player? Well she's only gone and struck up a close friendship with my prospective guitar player, I don't know, it was me that got talking to her and bought her a drink, and I wasn't after anything but a bit of fiddle, back to the solo act again, the story of my life! I backed Chelsea Harbour in the Nationbal, didn't deserve to win backing a horse with a name like that. Oh I'm off to Pompey next Saturday to watch the Toon, no doubt old Satche Face Redknap will ruin my day, but it has to be done, Love Ham.

Hi Ham,good to hear from you,as always.I am rather dumbfounded to know you are disorganised Ham...not the picture I had in my mind ,I have to say.I had imagined you all organised and everything,I don't know why.I am the queen of disorganization of course,my life is always in turmoil, all my own fault...putting things away SO SAFELY,then completely forgetting where the safe place is ! Being very enthusiastic about making plans to be here at a certain time,or there on a certain date, then thinking ...WHY did I say I would go ?? I do try really hard to be organised, everything in it's place, things to hand, the more I try,the worse the situation becomes...so,I know how you feel Ham ! It wouldn't do for everyone to be organised anyway, the world enjoys chaos !!! Well, the fiddler is playing tunes with the prospective guitarist, after you buying her a drink aswell. Is there no justice anymore ? What happened to good old fashioned moral values eh ? Sometimes solo is the only way to go Ham,rely on no one but yourself, thats my motto....it never works, but I have only myself to shout at,saves conflict ! ..I am sure the record you've made is much better than your making out Ham,as you said, the whole atmosphere of the day has been captured, thats what matters.I would love to hear it ,honestly.OK 'any other news'..we had snow flurries here the other day,it didn't stay, but it has been very cold.I went for a drive Sunday, out into the countryside,Lancashire is such a pretty county, and there are sure signs of spring everywhere..I KNOW,I should have been good like you and started the decorating too, but,I didn't hahahahaha Tomorrow is another day however hahahaha You take care, speak soon, lots of love Pinky XXXXXXX PS SOMEONE has to go and support the toon pet hahahahahaha (I couldn't resist hahaha) XXXXXXX

Funny thing Pinky, the lad I'm going to football with, I hadn't seen him for a few years but we used to go to football quite a bit, he was and still is, a Tottenham fan, but we'd go all over watching the Toon. The thing is it's rubbed off on his boy whose 9 and Toon mad, got the wallpaper on his bedroom and all of that stuff. Is't it funny how we impact on one another? The boy is coming on Saturday, so it should be fun. Got my registration done, it took me all day yesterday, thank goodness I was able to find my diaries going back three years, I really don't know what I'll be doing in six months so it's as well to keep options open. I'm off today, just waiting for my missus coming in then we're going off to Oxford, I need some 'accesories', socks and grundies, there's a TK Maxx up there and I'll buy some rubbish I don't need no doubt. I like that Lidl's as well, I buy all kinds of stuff there, tinned fish, German beer, olives, it's just a bit different, of course they sell a lot of rubbish as well but if you're careful you get some interesting stuff pretty reasonable. Hey I'll write soon, the cars just pulled in the drive, Love, Ham.

Hello Ham,good hearing from you,as always.Pleased you managed to get your registration sorted out,I hate things like that don't you ? Like the harrassment I get from my accountant,book-keeping is not one of my better skills, and besides,I pay him a Kings ransom, why can't he do the book-keeping as well ? It baffles me !! Yes,Lidls is a very good shop,we have one at Clevelys,I try to get there once a week, their smoked salmon is very reasonable, and at the moment I have a mad crush on avacado pears (must the latino in me or something ?)Their's seem to be ready to eat,as opposed to the more expensive Sainsburys one's which you have to keep for weeks to ripen...I enjoy trying the stuff out from Lidls. I've had a few days away from work this week, and the shop is actually still standing without me,much to my horror.....I am needed, and I don't care what anyone thinks hahaha. This cold is on the mend but lingering, the unseasonal weather I think ! I'm going to work today dying or not, just to prove my staff DO need me .....Ham,you don't know what you'll be doing in six months time,I haven't a clue what I'll be doing in six hours time,so you see,you are much more organised than me ,I can tell .....Have a great time at the footie, and I'm impressed that a nine year old has his heart in the right area at least, not bob on the ticket, but close enough, more heart than his Dad has anyway hahahahaha Speak soon Ham,take care Lots of Love, always Pinky XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Hey Pinky, you still got that cold? You need somebody looking after you gel, I'm a very good hands-on carer! Yes, we got to Pompey OK, 0-0 draw but lots of good football, and Blunderland lost which added to our enjoyment! I've got a full hoose again, well my great neice is stopping, she spends half of her life in bed so she's no trouble! I've just ordered a Banjo off Ebay, I'll be like a cat on hot bricks till it arrives, I always fancied one, and I saw this six-string beauty which appears to be quite reasonable and sulked till my missus let me buy it! It's a Harmony, they are or were a huge American company who really made decent stringed instruments on a production line basis and sold them cheap, thereby contributing hugely to folk and Jazz in America, they've been out of business for a few years now but I see several of their guitars are being reproduced, there's a lot of interest. What I've bought I'm not sure to be honest, I'll be a bundle of nerves till it arrives. I've never really tried to learn the guitar properly, I'm a pretty competent rhythm player, butI can't play tunes to save my life, and I'm hoping I will be inspired to play the banjo properly, we'll see. I like the old Kingston Trio stuff, we've got a banjo player in my band but he's not the greatest, and I can see me using the banjo in my folk club stuff. This is my only day off this week, I've got a course to do on Wednesday and Thursday, which will qualify me as a Mental Health officer, or whatever they call the new people responsible for dragging people in to hospital, I didn't really want to do it to be honest but I wouldn't be allowed to continue practising otherwise, I've always struggled with that part of the job. Well my lovely neice is stirring, I 'll have to get down the shops cos we've nee breed, well we have but we bake our own wholemeal and she likes white sliced! Teenagers! Love, Ham.

Hello Pinky, come on, you can still talk to me it's only a game of football! Actually the Mackems were awful, they seemed overawed by the situation and the Toon could have had a lot more goals. You OK gel? My Banjo arrived and it is lovely, not the best on the block but an American classic. The nut fell apart when I changed the strings, thats the little bit at the top of the neck that supports the string, Superglue to the rescue, but I'll have to get a new one, the seller wouldn't have any way of knowing, the strings were truly ancient and it hadn't been touched for years, it was hacky durty! Trouble is it's an odd size being a six string banjo, which is a reasonably unusual instrument, but if all else fails you can buy blanks and make your own. My band has sprung back to life, I thought we'd hit the buffers but we're starting up again and hunting for gigs, can you get us on at the Tower? It's foul here weatherwise, I'm off today, We bought a filing cabinet, flatpack of course from Argos, and I spent yesterday morning assembling it, I only said F... 73 times which is pretty good by my standards, and I'm going to put all my college stuff into files, it's just packed up in heaps in the little bedroom at the moment, well that's the intention, I'm surrounded by guitars and a banjo and I'm easily distracted, look, Blunderland will stop up, stop worrying, I don't know about next season mind! Love, Ham.

OK OK,I confess, the pure humilation of Sunderland losing last week-end forbade me entering this place ! You know me so well hahahahaha And what do you mean it's only a game of football Ham ? Wasn't it Bill Shankly who said ,and I quote 'Football isn't a religion,it's much more serious than that 'Well,Newcastle having the pure luck to beat us,was a disgrace ,then to get beaten again last week-end,have you no heart ? How could I face this thread without crying eh ? Anyway,I'm not into football anymore, synchronised swimming seems more feminine, even if the nose peg does nip,a little (thats my story and I'm sticking to it right ?) Well done Kevin Keegan is my final word on the subject of 22 men kicking a bit of leather around a field anyway ..........The banjo arrived then ? Brilliant ! The band getting back together, all sounds very exciting (now then, had Newcastle lost to Sunderland,I may have considered booking you at the Tower,no problem, however, how are you fixed for June 10th,me Mams birthday ? My garden,a b-b-q will be supplied, naturally. The budget may even stretch to a few beers.Think about it ok ? )...A new filing cabinet eh ? I'm impressed,I KNEW you were more organised than me Ham.And only 73..Fs,your getting well into this DIY stuff, how clever you are.'Any other News'..the weather has been fabulous here the past few days, mowed the lawn took Saffron for a run on the beach (to tire her out, didn't work, but I slept well)Everyone is fine Ham,my cold has gone at last.We had visitors from up home last week-end (they all stayed with me at my house)Lovely to see everyone ,of course, just hectic. You know how it gets Ham ! Well, we're all OK and ready to do it again next season! Just been in your old gaff actually for a quick pint on the way back from town, I've rejoined and it's a lot more civilised than it used to be, lots of the pubs in Wallingford are struggling, and there's not that many of them really, but they charge outrageous prices, £3 average for a pint, that's actually the biggest difference I notice when I gan up North, the price of beer, I'll get in a club up north and I bet I spend a good third less than I would down here. I went up to Didcot on the bus, using my lovely bus pass. This is really boring, but they've got a Wilkinsons up there, and I needed bird seed for my spuggies in the garden. I've got a couple of doves and woodpigeons visit and they eat more than me! So the club in town is a real asset, still £2.30 for a pint of bitter, hey I'm not tight but you don't want to chuck it away do you? Oh, it's the Ballroom this Friday so I'll be down there then. Good to hear from you, you've been invaded this time, I kid you not, this has been a bit of a mixed blessing for us for years. Funny thing is I hate stopping at other people's houses, I avoid it wherever possible. Actually, my old mother in law is the only person up North I stop with, and that's a trial I promise you, but she'd be upset if we didn't stay with her, and of course she's with us a good part of the year. i couldn't bear to stop with my Missus's other family, they live on those god foresaken private estates on the outskirts of Newcastle and talk about golf and the hooligan problem all the time, drives me crazy. I'd be a real hypocrite if I started slagging off hooligans, given half a chance I'm still a nutter even now! See you soon, Ham.

Hello Ham,thankyou for your msg, always good to know your ok....£3 for a pint of beer ? eeeee,I dread to think what would happen in the Castletown WMC if they charged that price in there ? The Wear would be full of committee men ,thats for sure ! They charge like rhino's down there.Mind you, Blackpool can be a bit silly too,in town, espiecally when the season looms, the prices seem to rise.I'll stick to me cup o' tea anyway hahaha...You've got spuggies in your garden too eh ? I have ivy covering the walls of my house,I get, on average, twelve nests a year.Spuggies are rare birds now,due to the protection of sparrow hawks I think ? I protect the spuggies ,venomously ! We seem quite similar Ham,I also hate staying at other peoples houses, even if it is family ,and even though they are kindness itself.I like my home,my bed and my rules (chill out, make yourself at home, and muck in if you feel so inclined )I think we all have 'snobby' relatives,I definitely have (since the pits closed down, everyone has forgotten their roots,it annoys me). So,yes,I'll be a hooligan with you,run rampant, disturb the peace and have fun hahahaha The only way to go if you ask me ! *Any other News* We had a thunderstorm here today. We MUST suffer as it's been really warm recently.Everyone is well, and things seem to be going well, too well,if you know what I mean ? It makes me nervous when things go too well Ham.Please blow a kiss to the 'old place' for me Friday, have a great night. You take care.Speak soon Lots of Love Pinky XXXXXXX

Hello Pinky, I'm just getting ready for the trek to Swindon, I went last week and the road from Wantage was closed because of floods, lovely drive through the Berkshire Downs for a detour though. They've put me on salary at the college, I don't get a lot as I only do a couple of taught hours a week but the cheques keep plopping through the lettterbox even when they're on holiday, which is nice! I hope I'll be somewhere near your way on Saturday, Gateshead are playing Witton Albion in the playoff final to get back in the Conference, I haven't seen them this season and I'm sorely tempted to go. they really ought to win. Gateshead were my first love to be honest, true story, I used to meet my grandad on the terraces at the old Redgheugh Park when they played in the old Third Division North. I'm working tomorrow so depending on what kind of day I have I hope to be heading for the North West on Saturday morning, eee I've got to git gannin, Love Ham.

I got it wrong didn't I? It's complicated but bear wuth me, I know you're absolutely fascinated. The two finalists in the playoff's played at the ground of the highest placed in the league, right? Witton were playing Buxton in the sem-final, and were red-hot favourites, Gateshead had beaten Buxton 5-0 the previous week, and Witton were second top. It eventually transpired that Buxton had won on penalties!!! Can you believe it? It's almost as unlikely as Blunderland beating the Toon! So, Gateshead were one place above Buxton, and therefore played them at Gateshead, I only found out on Saturday morning, I was ready for the road! So a long anxious wait listening to Radio Newcastle, and Gateshead did them 2-0 without too much trouble apparently, so I will get to see them a few times next season, Gateshead are going places, there's a lot of enthusiasm around the club, and they should have been back in league football years ago. There's a lot of affection for them on Tyneside, and we need a club that's not charging an arm and a leg so that people can see there's good football outside the premiership, and people can afford to take their kids to watch it. Hey I'm planting my moneymaker tomatoes out, I bought a few plants as I haven't grown many of my own, and I couldn.t remember whther you had to side shoot them or not, well you have. Pinky, stick with me and learn! Have a lovely Bank Holiday, Love, Ham.

Well,to be honest Ham,when you didn't knock by 6:30pm,I had a feeling something was wrong ! The pease pudding was done to perfection by the way,you missed a treat there (there's none left now,it never gets time to get cold in this house) And Hey,what about Sunderland then eh ? SEE how good we are ? Kind,giving,caring..how many teams do you know would let the other team win just to stop them getting relegated eh ? We're not all bad you know.I mean ,can you see Newcastle doing that ? Or even Gateshead ? I don't think so Bonny Lad !!!! I rest my case and I don't want to talk about football anyway .......The weather was gorgeous today (see that fantastic discreet change in topic then ? Skill, pure skill) I only did a few hours at the shop, the weather was far too nice to work.I went for a walk down on the beach, the puppy and kids in tow, really nice....I actually got the garden looking good as well. Not quite Kew yet,but I have high hopes for August !I grew tomatoes last year Ham,not sure which type,I can't remember, anyway, they were lovely, just not the biggest crop on record,I'll try again this year.Watch this space! OK,I won't bore you with anymore mundane chit chat Ham,naturally,I will return, soon, probably even more mundane than I am today hahahahahaha (I know,I surprise meself at times hahaha)I'm addicted, you have to suffer ,sorry X Hope your Bank Hoilday was a good day.Take care Ham Lots of Love Pinky XXXXXXXXXXX
