Amy the Ant - High Manzanilla of the Church of the Stuffed Olive

I went for a long walk today along the bridle path between East Keswick and Sicklinghall. It's a very beautiful route through farmland, across the River Wharfe, over some parkland and then through the woods. The wild flowers were amazing. Bluebells, campion, meadowsweet, wild garlic, wood violets, may blossom. And it was good to see some proper birds rather than the magpies and pigeons we get in town. There were chaffinches, robins, wrens, willow warblers and, of course, smiley - titsmiley - tit.

I walked just beyond Sicklinghall and then stopped to have my lunch. I'd just spread out my smiley - towel (well, Bagpuss' towel really - long story) when it started to rain. When my chicken mayonnaise salad was so runny it wouldn't stay on the fork I gave it up as a bad job and set off back to the Antmobile but the sun came out again very quickly so I stopped and sat on a large lump of Yorkshire stone at the foot of an enormous oak tree to do a landscape painting smiley - artist. It didn't turn out too badly. Mixed media - watercolour, dirt, greenfly and mayonnaise smiley - biggrin.

There were a few other people around but not enough to spoil it. Most were on horseback smiley - pony. Everyone said hello. I was nearly run over by a couple on mountain bikes but they missed me by inches.

The temperature was perfect for walking. About 16 or 17?C I would think. And it didn't rain again until I was safely home at The Nest.

I am feeling much better at the moment smiley - smiley. And the rain wasn't a problem. I was quite resigned to it and I had my waterproof on. smiley - smiley

Do you think it is the change in your diet that has helped, Amy? Or is it the change in pressure anyhoo, I'm just glad that you are feeling well.

But I certainly agree, Yorkshire is a work of art. Malham Cove, glorious sunset and no grockles is a masterpiece. H has never been there, so I hope to rectify that.

The change in diet has definitely helped. It hasn't solved the problem of the air pressure but the effects are less extreme.

Poor Smudger, trapped in a bad server wormhole...

It sounds like a lovely day, Amy, and I'm glad you got a chance to do some art. We're having a burst of wildflowers out here too, although I don't much remember what rain is like. smiley - smiley

I hope you didn't get mayonaise on my towel. smiley - winkeye

Sounds smiley - cool. I kind of miss that. We have a forest to wander in here, but you're limited in how far you can go.

Yes it's been a nice few days, I went to pickerings for a walk on saturday, and boy was it refreshing, ok so not nearly as big as yorkshire, but then I've never been to yorkshire so I got nothing to compare, lots of flowers were out, we even got some wild bedstraws and orchids, lots of other things, took my camara, got lots of picks...

You live in a nice part of the world too, DoctorMO smiley - smiley. Now all we need is for someone to write the definitive article on orchids for the front page.

yes, that would be nice, it's a contrast realy, I could photograph a pice of art, an orchid right next to Derborn Chemical works. you get used to the industry in widnes, but there still are some nice places to go. (even if pickerings pasture does back onto 4 factories, is sitting right on the mersy river and is sitting on a blue aspestos tip) but this won't stop me enjoying my walks and the nature, we even have foxes and rabits and lots of other things, I've been on bat watching and moth traping, realy quite fun.
