Titania (gone for lunch)

Not wanting to clutter my usual hang-out thread, I'll post here instead.

It was my nephew that showed Minecraft to me when I was visiting my brother's family to (belatedly) celebrate my nephew's birthday.

I knew about the game before, but just never bothered to try it, since the graphics look more than a bit blockish. And, as I've mentioned before, I'm a sucker for pretty graphics.

Anyway, I tried it out once home, and liked the whole construction idea - a bit like online Lego, so to speak.

So I decided to see if I could create a possibility for us to play together on a server. Despite several years of online gaming, I've never set up a network or a server before.

(to be continued)

My son plays it, and really loves it. I too think it's the Lego feel...

Well, I've managed to create a small VPN using Hamachi and using my private desktop computer to host the server. After checking up- and download times, it seems I can host, at the most, 3 players at one and the same time.

Not being sure how often my nephew checks his hotmail account, I 'messade' (Swedish short form for 'sending an SMS') my brother last weekend, but I know he and newphew were away hiking in Sälen.

If I don't hear from either of them regarding Minecraft this coming weekend...

Let's just wait and see. smiley - zen

Recently I noticed that N (my son) had a network cable from the upstairs router to his room. I pooked my head in and asked if he had trouble with the wireless network (for his laptop).

"Oh no, nothing of the sort - I just wanted a faster connection because I'm hosting a game server..."

I actually believe it was Minecraft...

Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am...

I had a go on the Minecraft beta. Gotta admit that I don't get it.

Totally going to run a network cable from the router to the study PC now though, don't know why that never occured to me before. smiley - doh

I ditched my wireless connection many moons ago, even if I never play any more. It just eats speed
