Success with Women, Revisited

Life is good, after all.

As of two weeks ago or so, I am happy to announce that I am no longer to be considered single and that I seem to have (and be) with one particular woman I really care about in more ways than seem appropriate to discuss here.

Yay for this!

Strange Person

I may have been called a strange person the other day. If so, this is about the nicest thing someone has told me in a very long time.

30!

Thirty! That's what I am as of today. Yay. The stupidest comments so far:
"It's only a number..."
"So how does it feel, that side of the line?"
"Hey, you look like 29..."

So, what do you get for that birthday? When my mom turned 30, she got me. Now that I turn 30, I will get a new government... Yay for Germany.

No no no: Yay for me!

Dentish Days

I feel like Arthur Dent.

Well, first that line was gonna read: I fell like Arthur Dent. Nice, but not quite true, especially since I have no recollection of Arthur Dent falling. He might have been flying at some point, which, when you consider it, might be thought of as a kind of very controlled falling and indeed, now that I think about it, there was one particular moment in So Long and Thanks for All the Fish where Arthur was indeed falling due to loss of controll over his flying activities. That's not what I meant, though.

Next, that line was gonna read: I elfl like Arthur Dent. Now this is so apparently not right that I will not even discuss it.

So here goes: I fele liek Arthur Dent.

Now, where is a table I could go and bang my head against?

I feel like Arthur Dent, though. Just like when Arthur tells himself he is going to find out the exact location of the cave he inhabited on prehistoric earth to have an excuse to buy a computer, I told myself it would be a very proactive and positive step to, in order to get myself into examination-preparation-and-taking-studying-serious-once-more mode, buy a new printer as my old printer had for the last two years not been a printer but only a nice little gadget for dust to collect on. So I went and bought myself a new printer; laser stuff technology it is, too. Prints out pages rather faster than the old one when the old one still did print pages, and it does so a lot more quietly than the old one.

That was three days ago. So far, I printed out some nice black and white photographs I took during the last few months, some song texts for the purpose of taking with me when I go somewhere with my guitar, a number of test pages the printer was adament to give to me, and that is about it. No studying-for-real and no feeling like it, either.

Must be the weather.

Success with Women

How can anyone of my sex, age, orientation and looks (male, 29, straight, good... as I am told) maintain any kind of self-esteem when the only kinds of women I seem to inspire interest in are either retired or girls under the age of five??? I have always known that old ladies like me - "such a nice young man..." Even a child I was able to charm all my grandmother's friends into doing for me whatever I wanted them to do for me. Oh well.

The other day I sat down in a café to have some coffee, which is a reasonable thing to do in a café. There were only four other people there as it was pretty early in the morning: two construction workers who preferred not to be caught working, a young mother and her daughter of about three years. And before I could even only think about taking out the book I had the intention of reading, the little girl marched over to my table and demanded to be entertained. Highly cute, too.

It's always the same. Old ladies like me, little girls like me, and also (just to be precise) gay men of all ages like me. All of whom are nice, in their own way. Old ladies often are the greatest story tellers. Little children are always fun. Men, gay or straight or anything inbetween, are good friends. But as far as women of my age group are concerned, I am either too stupid to notice any signal they might or might not be sending, or I am just sh!i out of luck there.

Y - thanks for listening.
