Depends where you get 'em from! I think they're about £80 from Turnkey. Not bad for a legendary pro mic.

I'll bet it's a Shure.

Back to toast, Marmite & smut.

Now, what you need to do, my little smiley - angels is take some soggy white pap, toast it until it's Golden Brown

*cue Stranglerssmiley - musicalnote

Then, spread it with lots & lots of butter OR margarine & put on video of Last Tango in Paris. Now, "can you tell the difference between Stork & butter?" If not, ask Lil to explain.smiley - evilgrin

Then, take a sharp knife, or machete if you are so inclined & vent all your aggressions up the innocent, pale, greasy, drippy slabs that lie innocently before you.Hack them lengthwise: show no mercy.(This may require kitchen towel)

Apply Marmite to the helpless fingers & inform them they are now Soldiers & must Serve You.

All you need now is an egg. There are agencies which cater for this sort of thing.

Apparently they're £70 from Turnkey, from an RRP of £124.70. What were they smoking when they decided £124.70 was a sensible RRP?

smiley - wow thats the Shure microphone make... just saw em online at places for 70 squids or less (pressumbably they'll bung a few quid dilivery on top of that) smiley - cool hmmm.... itchy finger.... must buy... need two ... and mic stands.... and long cables... (just discovered today that the middle landing, just outside the 'studeo' between the stairs going down and the stairs going up, has a really quite nice ambient sound for acoustic guitar, and its quite a quiet bit of the house too smiley - evilgrin

Leggsy - my flat is a bus ride (specifically a 24) from Turnkey. If you want a mic it'd save postage, but if you want stands and stuff I think delivery's the way forward!

I've had no trouble with Turnkey.

A lot of variation in prices for it online, cheapest I think was under 70 quid, but I saw a couple over 80 and one nudging 90 quid smiley - huhsmiley - weirdsmiley - biggrin I must finish off some of these recordings I've got live at the moment... in the morning smiley - evilgrinsmiley - musicalnote

I think Turnkey is the cheapest (or at least matches the cheapest, or so they say) and I've always had great service from them. Mind you, I've always had great service from every music shop I've dealt with.

These recordings you have to finish: are they as good as the drum spectacular I heard a few weeks back?

'AS' good? buttery butterrer smiley - huh theres one which is either* going to end up sounding like a 70's disco smiley - discosmiley - diva thing/perhaps a bit on the ragae ragea ragee side of things, or for some strange reason sounding awfully like home town alabama smiley - huh the other is either aan acousticy type guitar blues rock affair, or a sabbathy type rock affair (depending on if I can get the acoustic sound right with our crapy microphone or DI box) smiley - erm and at some point, there is an inkling of a synth attack being directed towards the drum extravoganza you heard the other week... and theres some other ones too, but I've no idea what they are really smiley - erm and there less likely to be finished any time soon anyhow smiley - rofl deadline? what deadline?

I've still got me beady eyes on nicking that drum thing. It is, in the parlance of the youth, way cool.

SM57s are better for recording high powered acoustic instruments but an SM58 is a better all round mic.

And yes, you should do more drum stuff!
