Back to the Reading thing: They're currently showing franz Ferdinand who i haven't seen and would love to see, but I know that i'd be a fair way from the stage or close to the stage and having my view blocked by a 6'13 chap, and it would be a frustrating nightjmare. Probably best off watching at home...

6' 13". Probably with his girlfriend on his shoulders to make sure your view is *completely* obscured.

zendevil

Nah darlin, use the zendevil technique. Eye up a Security Guard, wheedle right up to the front, stick there like glue till the end. Then wait till the rest of the crowd toddle off & wander backstage as if you own the place.

Make sure you wear your h2g2 Tshirt & carry (prominently) a flipover reporters type notebook. Obviously, you say to your tame gorilla "phew, thank gawd that's over, where the hell has John got to? I need a drink don't you?"

There will always be someone called John, if challenged, look baffled & say "The guy off the lighting! Oh gawd, i bet he's in the bar! Mike then?"

Then you just slither around looking happy, try & remember the (real) names of the group & make your way to the Hospitality tent.smiley - bubbly

Real expert liggers of course have already got in for free & are at the side of the stage throughout the gig.

I'm always too twatted at festivals to think that far ahead.

Franz Ferdinand's set proves that albums are works in progress. Tyhe songs in this set are so much better than they are on CD.

Ooh, now I DID manage to see the Ferds at last year's Belfast do - and they were superb! Best slot of the night IMHO.

Damn super live, if i remember rightly, kinda drunk and stoned at the time, but i remember their version of Smoke on the Water, with Bernie Torme opening it was whacking solo and with that unforgettable riff during it, teasing us poor souls until it kicked into life, i can still smell the armpits of thousands around me.

Those were the days
