Great Christmas programme at our arts cinema this year. We're going to lurk there, with popcorn, , and forget about the real world. .
I intend to see Mary Poppins once again, on the big screen, .
I'm not sure about Oz this year, am I still scared of the Munchkins? I'm definitely scared of the Tin Man, always have been. In fact, I think it's a really spooky film , apart from Toto, I love Toto.
Is anyone else scared of the Wizard of Oz?
Rocky Horror Picture Show, a definite maybe. Can't go wrong, I know all the tunes, , but we're not dressing up. (cue further underwear discussion).
What about White Christmas? I've never seen Bing on the big screen. Should we see White Christmas?
So, we have Cary Grant as a debonair angel, , starring with Loretta Young in The Bishop's Wife. A must, I think? We'd never heard of this one. .
Then there's A Matter of Life and Death, with David Niven as an RAF pilot, (my mother adored David Niven ), who encounters a celestial tribunal, after baling out of his plane. Another must? Never heard of this one either.
See you in Heaven.

I'd avoid all of that except for 'The Bishop's Wife'. That's really a fine film, in spite of Loretta.
Oh, and 'Rocky Horror' is always good for a laugh, but as holiday fare? Oh, well.
Speaking of taste, please remember to go over to A87817134 and give the author some help, discussion, and perculiar . I know you all can.

Excellent looking Entry! I shall consider.
Hmm, good plan to avoid most of the Christmas film programme, , thanks for freebie film tip about The Bishop's Wife!
The other night, we saw a film to eclipse all films of the season. The masterpiece in question is Otway the Movie, Rock and Roll's Greatest Failure. .
All about John Otway, rock and roll's greatest failure. . A delight. Not a failure at all, of course. An eccentric genius in fact.
And Thanksgiving greetings to Dmitri and Elektra, and all our American hootoo friends!!
Love to you all, this Thanksgiving!!
And have a great day.

Thanks! It's tomorrow. Right now, Elektra's doing mysterious things in the kitchen, involving the possibility of future cornbread dressing.
Tomorrow, the turkey breast is to be made edible int he slow cooker. The instructions SWEAR that you leave it in the wrapper... Merely venting the steam... I am hopeful.
There's cranberry sauce, too, and pumpkin pie.
Want a good freebie film tip? Tyr this one.
'Dark Prince: The True Story of Dracula'.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUwUiGdKTYs
WAIT! Not a horror movie. NOT a documentary. Jsut a very good film made in Romania, in English, about the historical characters, and how his legend got started. Very period-correct. Think the Romanian version of 'Henry V'.
Oh, and the actor also played Dracula in 'Buffy, the Vampire Slayer',but I think that was more as a joke.

Happy Thanksgiving Electra, Dmitri and ITIWBS if they are around
Special Thanksgiving perculiar
Really wants to take a peek at the mysterious things Elektra is doing in the kitchen but I is being good and staying out the way
(and also a little bit cowardly, in case I get a telling off for getting under her feet )
How did the slow cooking of the turkey in its wrapper go?
I am getting a stew pack tomorrow for slow cooker, parsnip, carrots leeks and a swede. I am going add some chicken thighs and not all of the swede some of that is going to mashed and served with gravy and poppadoms as that is a snack Hiccup is partial too.

Thanks, folks!
Elektra says the turkey is 'moving along'. It's going to take more than six hours at this rate, so we'll let you know.
She's going to make apple crisp, too.

I've eaten too much.
But I am pleased to report that the turkey breast in the slow cooker was a rousing success! Delicious.
Apple crisp will have to wait.

well done Elektra
I never have enough room for pudding after a festive meal or one of my Mum's roast dinners
I get to bring it home in a sandwich box for later, along with the leftover cream, just to save them from themselves of course

Ah. NOW I understand how the ancients used the flight patterns of birds for divination.
Watching this short video could change your life.

Hey Elekra good to see you have made it out of the kitchen
now I can give you a without getting under your feet
I have never seen a murmuring as big as that, but it is spectacular the way the starlings fly in huge numbers, mainly we see gatherings, they are loud, and then whooshy when they take off together
Dmitri, we follow ,notice , the plants , the birds and the flocks and herds and of course the water,
in our very nature

Willem Posted Nov 29, 2013
Just want to say I LOVE those starlings Elektra! That is real-world magic.

Dmitri Gheorgheni, Post Editor Posted Nov 29, 2013
Yep. Elektra says thanks. (She's over on the sofa reading.)
Oh, and Daydreamers? Willem's Unuclidia painting and MCP's poem will be in the 9 December Post. I've just prepared it.
A reminder: We'll need December Stuff, so either check out the new Create challenge on Sunday, or be thinking of what you'd like to send us at . h2g2 does not live by NaJoPoMo alone.

minorvogonpoet Posted Nov 29, 2013
Thank you for the starlings, Elektra.
As for me, I'm all NaJoPoMo'd out. But I'll be all right after a cup of Peanut's perculiar and I'll think of something for December.
