Our monitors and printers at work have never been calibrated. smiley - sadface that always means a lot of fiddling with the colors if they have to look right.

This was at a designers where they did a lot of in-house print work, and charged a heck of a lot for it smiley - erm

It was hilarious trying to explain, time and again, that the colour on the screen would never be the same as the pantones, or even the same across different monitors.

We use color profiles to get our monitors and printers as close as we can.

We generally just need approximately the same colors on all printers, but they are amazingly different. Our main A0 plotter for instance prints everything much darker and with an ugly touch of green.smiley - erm

My first attempt was 49, but second time round I got 12 smiley - ok

Not bad at all considering I'm only on a laptop and the lighting is not the most daylight like smiley - cool

This iMac of mine is 7.5 year old and has probably not been calibrated since it was manufactured

Are you sure it really matters, though? Won't all the squares be affected equally smiley - huh

And might it matter that I only see about 10% percent with my right eye?

I should ask my cousin in Philly, he practices and teaches ophthalmology smiley - geek

Dea.. - call me Mrs B!

The 80's are coming back - magenta is IN! I think smiley - erm I got a dodgy brooch for Christmas as a woman who has never worn a scarf nor jacket that ever need a zircon studded flower with a fake sapphire in it! I think I would like a job which came with a track suit every year. Or maybe not...

Dea.. - call me Mrs B!

Me too - I'm mainly self-employed and the brooch came from my one and only actual employer (with proper paperwork and social insurance!) where I do 6 hours over 2 days. When we make it big, I'll get 40 hours and a new tracksuit! Actually, I'd rather she forgot about the Christmas present and had me in as a contractor like the rest do - it would make my tax return so much easier!

BG - I never knew you were so good at colour coding! I may have to pick your brain later this week, if you don't mind. I need to match basic MS text colour with an Open Office pic which are on different devices to co-ordinate something for a friend.

I have to admit, magnolia is one of my most hated colours. Probably because it's the one that all rented houses are painted because it's cleaner than most, and doesn't show ageing as quickly as white.

It does however show a total lack of imagination.

Says the guy whose house is still aged white throughout all but one room because he's not decorated any others since he moved in smiley - laugh

I have to say, magenta's not bad as colours go, I'm sure I have a yoga top in that. Though I'd probably call it cerise

My son (Is Mise Duncan, formerly known as the Spearcarrier)used to have a 1970s TR7 that was officially magenta. I miss it, as magenta is my 2nd favourite colour after Royal Purple. His "new" one(actually even older) is British Racing Green. Causes a stir on the rare occasions it gets driven, but it's not the same. smiley - starsmiley - star

British Racing Green is my favourite colour. In that Green is my favourite colour and out of the greens that I've come across that's my favourite shade. smiley - smiley
