I watched the rugby at the same time as an ex-pat friend in Sydney so we chatted on IM about the lovely guys! The world felt a smaller place for a while. She had a and I had a . As well as Jonny, we agreed that the Australian number 9 (don't know his name) was quite nice as well.
Then she went to bed and I went to see "Love Actually" with Sunshine and her friends. Ahhh! What a nice, feelgood film. But take the tissues!

was it good, it sounds fab, and I love Bill Nighy.
I didn't realise that Kira Knightley was in it, boy she's skinny (but looks nice with dark hair)
ok, off to watch the Big Read and dream of rugby players.

It's absolutely brilliant and Bill Nighy is perfectly cast. In fact everyone is, even the skinny Ms Knightley. Do get to see it when you can.
Some say Bill should be the next Dr Who. What do you reckon ladies?

Coniraya Posted Nov 22, 2003
I didn't watch the rugby, I'm pleased we won, but not even the firm butts could induce me to watch it.
Just been to see Intolerable Cruelty, funny in parts, dull in others. George Clooney is all right, but he is not a patch on Rufus Sewell, Sean Bean, RDA or Morten Viggie-thingy.
I think Bill would be rather good as Dr Who, Alan Davies would also be good.

Sho - employed again! Posted Nov 22, 2003
I think Bill Nighy would be perfect for Dr. Who. Alan Davies at a pinch, but I have to say it was wonderful seeing Hugh Grant being the good Doctor on the tv today.
I had no choice with the rugby. The hubs insisted, and I had to comply with watching those firm bottoms, chests, thighs

Swiv (decrepit postgrad) Posted Nov 22, 2003
but George Clooney has such a worthy voice!
and the rugby. liked the camera shot of jonny wilkinson's bottom as he was about to kick a penalty.
and Love Actually's such fun. except that the skinny Ms Knightly really should have gone for Andrew Lincoln, he's such a sweetie

How many times are we going to see that shot of Johnny Wilkinson's bottom? I mean, it's a lot for a er to have to "endure"
I saw a few interviews & stuff about Love Actually, Bill Nighy's character looks hilarious, and I like the way they are showing his relationship with another man.

*Spins a rugby ball on one finger and dreams of muscular thighs and scrums*
Did anyone notice the Aussie PM's "we are not amused" face as he handed over the cup? Not even a handshake the grumpy awld g*t!
What a match though! The second half was sooo stressful, especially when the ref made some extremely dodgy judgements against England but they still won!
Whoohoo!
Has anyone seen the Dr Who pull-out in this weeks Radio Times? Apparently Stephen Fry has been voted as the 3rd most popular choice for the new Dr Who.

Sho - employed again! Posted Nov 23, 2003
I think it was a bit of a shock for all Aussies - they're just not used to losing.
*sings Swing Low Sweet Charriot one last time*
Stephen Fry?
Noooooooo!

Gwennie Posted Nov 23, 2003
Yup! Stephen Fry! I would like to see what he could do with the character though...How about Robbie Coltrane? Do you think he would do a good Dr Who?
According to the Radio Times, their list of who should play the next doctor was taken from an online BBC poll...
1. Anthony Head
2. Alan Rickman
3. Stephen Fry
4. Alan Davies
5. Ian Richardson

Mr Prophet (General Purpose Genre Guru) Posted Nov 23, 2003
Tony Head could do a great Doctor; veyr proper and refined, and just a little dangerous as well.
Alan Rickman I could also see. A seedier, more cynical doctor, perhaps. One of his wearier and more irrascible regenerations; Troughton or McCoy more than Pertwee or McGann.
Stephen Fry...I'd have to see it to believe it.
Robbie Coltrane. Scary Doctor.
Alan Davies. Again I can see it, but some care might be needed to make him something other than Jonathon Creek in space.
Ian Richardson. Well, he'd be good, but the trouble is you'd then have to give up the chance to cast him as The Master or as some other cool and ruthless foeman.

Coniraya Posted Nov 23, 2003
Oh yes! Ian Richardson as The Master v Alan Rickman as The Doctor! But the writers would have their work cut out for them.
So who would be a good side kick? H votes for Kylie!

Sho - employed again! Posted Nov 23, 2003
Or Alan Rickman as The Master and Ian Richardson as the doctor...
and since I'm so into him at the moment, how about Bill Nighy as Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart?
Sidekick? ME! er... how about the girly from Bend it Like Beckham (the hubs' current letch)
~drool~ thread et le shark
Mr Prophet (General Purpose Genre Guru) Posted Nov 23, 2003
Well, not wishing to sound unreasonable but...
NO!!!!
Nicholas Courtney or a new Brigadier, dag nabbit.
And would the girly from Bend it Like Beckham be Parminder Nagra or the girly from Pirates of the Carribean?

Gwennie Posted Nov 24, 2003
How about Joanna Lumley as Patsy from AbFab as Dr Who's sidekick? She could sabotage the Dr's attempts to instil universal peace and goodwill and the tardis too...

I thought Stargate was rather funny, but it is in danger of becoming something of a parody.
Anyone else watching Between the Sheets?
