Well you could have it the other way where you can't walk down the street without being stared at, can't walk into a bar without being chatted up by at least one slimy g*t. I only have a little experience of this.... I haven't worn my leather mini skirt and knee highs for a long time

I remember that feeling!
I don't know when I got my confidence or how but I do know now that if I want to pull (Not that I ever do nowadays) I can do and I think part of it is just having the knowledge that I can do it!
Confidence can hide a multitude of 'imperfections' hate that term!

I've never had any other feeling.
I wish I was confident, I get it then something always happens to screw things up, like people making comments or offensive emails or whatever...
I can never keep it. Only way I'll be confident is if I'm not me.

Talking like that is not the way to gain confidence. You need to be happy with who you are. Whether it's because you've reached a state that you're happy with or because you know you are on your way there, you need to be in control of your self perception.

i guess, I jsut wish someone would say something nice about my appearance or something, I mean I know i shouldn't be looking for other peoples approval because you should be content with who you are, but I've had nothing but put downs about the way I look all my life...surely at least one person should like the way I look.

Not everybody is lucky enough to be a super model. Lets just be thankful that it's not only the outward appearances that count.
I was quite disturbed when I read the msgs of pity for this woman. I think she has done admirably well and in some senses she is lucky. Her friends will be true and fun people who care about her for who she is rather than the fickleness of the popular crowds. Why pity someone who does not want nor need your pity?

Because people are weird like that, I mean, it seems to go like half the people see someone who looks differnet with pity and the others choose to ridcule.
That girl is no less normal than anyone else, she has a condition that means she looks different, but she's still a person, she's still got a personality and feelings, you shouldn't pity or ridicule people, treat everyone the same, outward appearance should have no affect on how we see each other, if someone's got a good personality then why should them looking weird change the fact that they're a nice person?
I guess the answer is that as a society we've made standards of normality that we're unwilling to stray from, a case of books and covers, if your cover doesn't look appealling then people won't take the time to see what's inside.
A lot of the time the nice covers are just that, nice to look at but there's not much depth, I guess that's why I was friends with the people I was friends with and why I like h2g2, you don't have any idea what a personlooks like, and you can get to like a person because of who they are before you know what they look like.

Exactly.
If I were you I'd concentrate a little more on what you've got rather than what you haven't. You seem a nice person but that wont come across if every time you meet someone you are worrying about your appearance or rambling.
Ramble all you like my dear, talkative girls are much more interesting than wall flowers

yes that's because online I don't talk so much crap and I don't freak out about what I@m saying and frustrated when I can't think of a work or worst say/pronounce one (went to speech therapy when I was younger so it's kinda like you keep the rules ikn your head and if you get one wrong you feel like a right or maybe that's just me)

I had speach therapy for my lisp. It's nearly gone, and now it's only really noticable when I'm very tired or I've had a little bit too much too drink

I couldn't say my TH's or some other stuff and when I'm reading stuff out loud it's all in stops and starts because I had to get extra lessons to learn to read and write (my first primar y school never picked up I had problems), so when I'm talking I'm the only one who really notices if I say things wrong, but it's one of those really annoying things.
ach, least I don't have a fun brace related lispy thing how (I'm missing two teeth)
I was a bit of a disaster zone when I was a tot

I've still got two of my baby teeth, though one of them had to have a filling when I was 18
I know what you mean about picking your faults up when you speak, it really annoying, especially as when I actually sit down and think about it no-one else will have noticed anyway!
