I didn't tell Ian until he arrived here for his tea last night. I said I could swear I had something to tell him but I couldn't remember what, which prompted him to suggest a couple of things. I kept saying no and pretending to think. Finally he said "it can't be a phone call from The Chase because you wouldn't forget that!" and I said "that's it!!! The Chase have rung me and I'm going on 3rd March" his face was a picture, like he couldn't quite believe what I was saying then he grinned a big grin and was as excited as I was once he realised I wasn't kidding.

I'm assuming he will be able to accompany me (I won't go without him) so it will be a fabulous adventure for him as wellsmiley - magic

I don't even mind the wait now I have a date to look forward to, my hair will have grown back somewhat for my tv debut smiley - divaand I'm really looking forward to the experience, whether I win anything or not smiley - biggrin

It is fascinating, just when you were at the point of thinking the call up wasn't going to happen after all, and then Yes! The Chase is On!!!

I'm hoping you do really well, and my parents are looking forward to it too, as they enjoy watching The Chase and it always seems to be a good game whatever happens at the end so we're sure you'll have a good time smiley - ok

Gnomon - time to move on

Will they swear you to secrecy in the months between the recording and the airing of the show?

Will that include the excessive use of smileys on a certain website? smiley - biggrin

You can call me TC

Surely you can tell us? Now we can't wait to hear when it will be broadcast. In the meantime, you'd better start re-reading all the entries on h2g2 so you know all there is to know when it comes to answering questions. And go by your instincts - don't let the rest of the team persuade you to do something you don't think is right!

My Mum can't wait either, Sashasmiley - biggrin
She was so excited when I got the call, as I was with her at the time.

I don't know if they will swear me to secrecy! That'll be hard...smiley - erm

TC I watch Tipping Point then The Chase then Eggheads if it's on and Mastermind once a week. I regularly shout out answers I've learned just from subbing entries, as well as my own research. I have a massive range of general knowledge. My geography is not so good and I'd be useless on anything soap-related as I don't watch any of them. Give me astronomy thoughsmiley - wow and there's a lot of Royal history on currently (I knew Queen Victoria was William IV's niece from last night's show) I even knew the Caspian Sea was the world's largest salt lake because it had been on a previous show and it had sunk in. smiley - eureka

I have a high amount I'd go for in my mind and it's a magic number as I'm sure you can all guess. I love watching people go for the high offer and it adds excitement for the viewers. I will not go for the low amount, even if it's a plus offer. Not ever. It's so disappointing to watch people do that. I may go for what I earn depending if I get £8-10k or moresmiley - laugh

We'll see. Right now I am just looking forward to the away day/night (We will go the day before and stay in a hotel overnight, whatever the plans are made by the studio) anything else will be a bonus. Ian is confident I am capable of winning, but it all depends upon the team I get, and that's out of my hands.

Whether you win money or not, GB, I hope you have a great time. But it would be nice if you came home with a little £100,000.

Tough tactics on that show. You want the best and fastest quizzers on your team at the end, ideally, so you don't want them to risk going for the higher prizes. If they're good but slow, then you might encourage them to take the risk.

So would you encourage me to go high Icy? I have no way of knowing if we can choose our position in the order of play.

Gnomon I have never seen anyone win £100,000 and it'd have to be shared with the team anyway but smiley - puff such figures boggle the mind. It'd be amazing if I won enough to buy a car and enough to keep it running for a couple of yearssmiley - wow

I really don't mind if I don't win - I'll have my 15 minutes of fame and I'll make sure I get a couple of Hitchhiker's references insmiley - dontpanic

Tonight's Chase was a first - a deaf old man actually asked Bradley to repeat the question after he'd buzzed (preventing the others from answering) in the final chase and I was screaming inside for him to hurry up!!! He was wearing a hearing aid - why oh why didn't he turn the smiley - bleep thing up? And they lost by one second. smiley - grr

I think you should do what you think is best, but make sure you get to the final. Just encourage others as I have suggested. smiley - evilgrin
