I'm grateful I have my younger brother to deal with all the finances and sort out the paperwork. I'm not sure I could have coped with all that
I've just heard from Mum's chiropodist, she will attend tomorrow after lunch so I'll pop round earlier than planned to bathe Mum's feet in the footbath to soften her nails for cutting. Mum loves the pampering, but she'll have forgotten it by the next day and swear blind by Wednesday she's had no visitors this week.
It's the blank looks I find difficult to watch when I correct her; she used to get annoyed or upset but now her expression is quite bland. Like she no longer worries about anything.

Waste of energy correcting them GB because they don't retain it. I think one of the comforts of dementia when it is more advanced is that they no longer really suffer like the rest of us.
You are not on your own in finding carers have muddled up medication which is a huge worry. I have heard today of a similar case.
When you think what their brains have assimilated over decades, it is a wonder they still have any marbles. Just think of the 'advances' and changes of the last 100 years, and the pace of change.
Lets hope the Govt. gets its act together and pushes for more research in to the condition, treatment, prevention and maybe cure, as in a few years time we are going to be in an unholy mess.
You are doing great and i am sure your experience is a help and comfort to others.

"Like she no longer worries about anything" I stopped worrying about everything years agoI'm too busy trying to bring smiles and feelings of well-being to friends and "worrying" is negative (I don't do negative)

We've had a worrying week with Ian's Mum... it's not sounding good and I am no longer confident she's going to make her 100th birthday in October. The family are at The Old Library now, and I'm hovering by my phone.

Thanks everyone
Eileen's a strong lady and not giving in easily. Ian's going again today with his daughter, to give his sister a bit of a break, she's been there since Friday. I had a wonderful dream, and I know this is the order of things and the way it's meant to be. Everything will be alright.

Thanks everyone
My Mum's quite talkative at the moment but she is getting harder to understand with her stopping talking because she can't remember the next word, or mangled/made-up words. Today she asked me if I hear a loud bang in the night. I said no. I asked if she had a good time yesterday at the Curzon, she said "so-so" (usual answer) but she did win a pack of chocolate biscuits, the lunch was so-so but the dessert was "out of this world". She even bought an extra two and there's one for me in the fridge.
I went to look in the fridge... the only thing I didn't put in there was half a punnet of I went back to ask her, did you mean half a punnet of strawberries? She said yes. I said, you had them for dessert and it was out of this world? Yes, she says, then No, they made a pudding with them. I said, but you don't like strawberries! I know from buying her shopping for the last 18 months not to buy strawberry-flavoured anything. Oh, she says, I do like FRESH strawberries. But I still couldn't get her to even describe the pudding. The main meal was liver, after we'd been through many, many options from "something I like" to "hard and brown meat"
I've brought the half-punnet home and going to have them after my tea, with ice cream.
