Thanks folks, you take it easy Profsmiley - smooch

Wednesday's trip wasn't uneventful smiley - sadface Mum managed to fall on the steps of the [escorted] smiley - bus when returning home. As her leg was bleeding and she's on Warfarin, they had to hold everything up while they took her back inside to attend to the wound. They rang me, but I was too ill to attend and couldn't have done anything they couldn't, anyway. They wanted to know if Mum would be alone when she returned home as she kept telling them "my daughter will be there" (I was last week, but not this week). I told them that the tea carer was due at 5pm and my sister would be there from work not long after that so they sent her home. My sister rang me about 6pm to say Mum's leg was gashed and she had a livid blue bruise on the same shin she damaged before. She'd rung the GP surgery but they refused to send a GP and said call 911 or they'd send a District Nurse in the morning. But they did advise omitting the day's dose of Warfarin when my sister asked. Von rang on call and they asked if the bleeding had stopped (it had). Von stayed until the evening carer arrived so she had a clear idea of what had happened. Someone from the Curzon Centre rang my mobile this morning to enquire after Mum's health, I said I didn't know how she was because I was ill in bed myself. I thought she sounded annoyed when she asked if it was appropriate to ring Mum's landline and I said no, she wouldn't answer the phone. She then said she was informed that someone would be with Mum when she arrived home the previous evening, and I said yes, I said the tea carer would be there at 5pm and my sister would arrive not long after, she in fact stayed until the evening carer called to put Mum to bed. The caller seemed satisfied to have something to write on their incident note and rang off. smiley - puff

I have to call at Mum's tomorrow to deliver her new TV mag so I'll check on her then, but I won't hang about. I really need to shake this virus, I've missed seeing Ian's lovely Mum Eileen this week, and his youngest grandson Lucassmiley - cryand it's a week tomorrow on Eileen's 99th birthday that Ian's whole family are going to gather for the 5-generation portrait. I MUST BE WELL FOR THAT (mantra) I MUST BE WELL FOR THATsmiley - nurse

'I MUST BE WELL FOR THAT' - keep saying it and make sure you don't do anything daft to make yourself worse.

I think it was disgraceful the GP wouldn't come out, or at least a district nurse.I have reservations about the advice given from experience of a friend, but there is not much you can do.

Hope she recovers soon. Shame you can't get the TV mag delivered?

Take care,

Mum went to the Curzon Centre this week and it was quite uneventful except she was thrilled when Liam popped in to see her, she said there was quite a fuss about the lovely young man (he's taller than me now).

I've found out we're not entitled to respite as Mum lives alone. Apparently if she lived with one of us we'd be entitled to some. They did offer me the services of a cleaner though, 1½hrs a week. I grabbed the opportunity with both hands, just waiting for the paperwork to be filled in nowsmiley - raisedeyebrowsmiley - zen

I still have a sticky throat, but my coughing and sneezing has ceased so I'm looking forward to Ian's family gathering this afternoon, and meeting the new babysmiley - chick

Happy birthday Eileensmiley - bubblyand smiley - cake

Hope you had a lovely time and that you are feeling even better.

Glad you grabbed the cleaner, every little helps as they say!!

I have learnt something, that is awful, it is often more of a strain looking after a parent who lives separately as mine did, till I moved my Dad in with me, which was a big mistake - there was no real choice in those days.

Things have changed a lot but not necessarily for the better.

Take care of yourself,

Hi everyone, I've not forgotten you but I am writing a NaJoPoMo 2013 (it's just one journal, not multiple) and I'm mostly talking about my daily life with Mum there so it seems silly to repeat the Mum stuff here. I'll go back to writing up this journal when NaJoPoMo 2013 is over, catch you later smiley - cheerup

Mum was very excited this morning as she's been looking forward to her visit to the Curzon Centre since they announced last week that this week's would be a Christmas dinner with all the trimmings (they're closed next week) so she'll be wearing a party hat and pulling smiley - cracker

smiley - biggrin

The escort who collected her told me it was free (I usually send £2.42 for her lunch) which pleased Mum even more!smiley - magic

I'll hear all about it tomorrow.
