So, the 7th July bombers: the UK is, effectively, their own soil. What they are fighting for appears to be the foreign domination of their own soil. They're not fighting for their liberty - they're far freer here than in any of the countries that a more literal interpretation of their law would allow. So how can they be described as "freedom fighters", even by people who agree with them?
As for the last lot, since when has it been a foreign policy of Pakistan to "free" the UK?

If governments can shut down and bar websites dealing with child pornography, then surely they can do the same with websites promoting extremist behaviour of all types. This may seem to be a form of censorship, but there has to be a line drawn somewhere on this issue.

9/11 must have been planned when Clinton was in office.

Hmm, are you going to stop people coming in on tourist visas as well? It might delay the expansion of Heathrow airport, or even help slow down the greenhouse effect, but I don't think many politicians will stand up and say that frequent air travel should be curbed.
I have heard a lady from `Liberty' go into details about why the prevention of terror acts had not worked in the past, so why should they work now? I also gather that Britain was culpable in allowing CIA planes to carry people to be tortured in the Middle East as part of the so-called `War on Terror.' Aside from the morality of this (i.e., none that I can see) isn't there an an old adage known as practising what you preach? If you read some of Hitler's speeches, there is a terrifying similarity with some of the war propaganda touted on the tv screens. War? What is it for?
I gather that about £76 billion is being set aside to Provide for another generation of nuclear weapons in this country. Do I feel safer? No. Do I feel that Britain has any moral high ground? No. And very warped priorities.

Gordon Brown clearly has a lot to think about. Can he afford to bring those soldiers home and risk the oil port of Basra becoming a battle ground between Islamic factions and consequently a shutdown of a large percentage of the world's oil supply? And then what about Pakistan, that training and brainwashing ground for jihadists, an unstable country with the islamic nuclear bomb in its arsenal. Not to mention the nuclear ambitious Iranian leader with his 'wipe Israel off the map' philosopy.

Well, I think it's time to get out my books on Buddhism, which have helped me a lot since about 1999, when i went on two retreats.
What I can remember best are the mantras `OM shanti' (mantra for peace, and `Om mani padme hum' (roughly translated as compassion to all beings.
According to one teacher, OM, or AUm, is the sacred sound of the universe, that can bring about harmonious change.
..and HA is supposed to open up the heart centre...
so laughing IS good for you
... that's a relief...
