I have 2 Mother's Day cards.
One bought, one hand-made.

I'm half-happy, half-sad.

I all 4 of my children, but it pains me that the two {who live away} couldn't find time to buy a card & post it in time for the day.

Thank you to my Mum for all you do for me and your love, and happy Mother's Day to all mothers everywhere.

at least you got two... although to be fair "real" Mothers' Day here isn't until May.

At least, that's the excuse I'm using for having forgotten to send a card to my Mum.

Perhaps I have missed it, but Mother's Day doesn't seem to have been much publicised this year, so perhaps your other 2 didn't get any reminders, GB. I am sure they are sorry they had forgotten, but it is still only half way through the day.

H rushed over to see his Mum first thing this morning, before coming back to prepare lunch. No2 son dropped by with a card and flowers and No1 son will fall in the door around lunchtime following a friend's all night housewarming party, with the card that I know was in the WH Smith's bag on his bed

But none of them would have remembered if I hadn't reminded H to buy a card for his Mum, dropped an unsubtle hint to No1 son and if No2 son hadn't had his g/f to remind him.

I don't even have my son here - but I know that he loves me every day. I have never had a Mother's Day with him, because it's his weekend with his daddy. He has bought me something though, and I'm looking forward to tomorrow, when he's present me with something!

Maybe your other kids will call later AGB?

No cards or presents for me either. Every day is Mothers day here! However, it's Sunshine's birthday as well, so she was out last night and they are both spending the day with their dad today, leaving me to get on with the mountain of courswework to mark that is piled on my floor. So a bit of peace is quite a good gift.

However, I did get something nice in the post yesterday. A tax rebate cheque! Shall I adopt the Inland Revenue?

I love my mum, but that couldn't magic away the stomach bug and the back and chest spasms. So she should get her card tomorrow, late I know. Perhaps your other 2 were ill or something unavoidable happened, it doesn't mean that they love you any less, it just means life isn't always convenient. Anyway, it could also mean that the post office isn't perfect, and what a surprise that would be!

The most important thing is to know that your kids love you. This one day in a year doesn't make it more special.

I was expecting none - my 2 are too young to think of it themselves. But my lodger (15 years younger than me - most times my peer, but at times I'm the Mom figure) organised with them a card (with a on the front) and a mug...and the card was signed by her too, which was really sweet



Relish what you got - some people (kids?&gt are very bad at complying with calendar imposed traditions. But they still love you in their own special way.

I'm intrigued that Caerwynn's husband "prepared Sunday lunch" was that just a one-off for Mothering Sunday I wonder or did you win the jackpot in husband-selecting?

H quite often cooks, he knows how much I hate it! He will even cook meat whilst doing something veggie for himself.

mind you, after I finally found some nice big loaf tins, he baked us some bread today, nice big loaves that I can make proper sized sandwiches out of. He said we never have to eat shop bought bread again

Whereabouts are you, Niwt? Mother's Day in the US is in May. A much better month for it, but ours in the UK is tied to the Church of England religious calendar.

GB, a couple of years after my first marriage ended I met another divorcee who had joined a singles' social club and suggested I went along with her. So I plucked up my courage, found a babysitter and off I went. It was a real mix of people, some very , but I went along more for things like the theatre and cinema trips than to find a partner. I was coming to the end of my second year of membership and had decided that I wasn't going to renew it when a group of younger people joined. H was one fo them and we were just friends for about 6 months, I thought he was interested in someone else. We went to a blues club in a group (not my sort of thing, but you have to try them to find out) and as he had to drive past the end of my road, he offered me a lift. H was very gentlemanly and really did only come in for a when he took me home, but he asked me out for dinner and that was it
