All weddings a farce?
Why so?
(My parents are still happily married, they had a "make-do" war wedding almost 64 years ago...)

it's a farce that people swear to be true to each other 'until death parts us' when half of the couples divorce anyway and most of the rest cheat on each other
you can live happily together for 64 years without the wedding, can't you?
but hey, each to his or her own. if you enjoy the ceremony do what you like

"You can live happily together for 64 years without the wedding, can't you"
Not in the case of my mother and father, no.
If he hadn't married her, they wouldn't have lived together.
My Mum made him wait, and my Dad was happy to do so.
So sweet, it's a lost world now.
