That's roughly how I thought you'd feel about the EEK. I think that's how I'd feel. The poor thing was revived, only to be quietly put to sleep again. And yes, it's such a strong national symbol.

It's hard for me to find a parallel with this country; we don't even have a *language* of our own. (Or we do, a few hundred of them in fact, but I can't really see Australia dumping English in favour of Pitjantjatjara or Ngarrindjeri or Arrente - but that's beside the point.) And we borrowed the name of our currency, when we replaced the old currency we'd borrowed from the UK.

There are sensible economic reasons to adopt the Euro, of course, but... It is still a bit sad.

The name of the currency here is borrowed as well, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, they all have the same name.
Well, at the end of the day it doesn't make much difference how they call the smiley - 2cents I don't have. My nationalistic feelings are still hurt though. smiley - injured

At least you got to spell the EEK in your own way, even if the name itself was borrowed...

I'm just here briefly; back from a week in Adelaide, re-packing my bag for four dys in Sydney. I have 25 hours before I start travelling again - and I have to go out today. I need a rest.

Travelling is nice, I haven't done it enough recently. But then I'll have a 2 week trip in August, to Czech republic.

Somewhere else with really nice beer, and I can't get there. smiley - silly Do have fun...

Personally, I've had enough travelling. I'm likely to stay in this mood for at least a week. Then I'll start to get restless again.

smiley - ale was nice indeed. Now, if I only could pull myself together to write something about the trip. At least there are photos in my fotki album. smiley - winkeye

Are there photos of the smiley - ale?

I'll have a look in Fotki one day soon... It's been ages since I spent any time on that site.

Unfortunately there isn't. All the smiley - ale passed too fast. smiley - winkeye

I'll just have to pour a and have it in front of me when I look at the photos. That will add atmosphere.

That's easy, there's some at my local shop. Kozel, I think. There's a few others elsewhere. (Yes, I do pay attention to these things...)

Ah good! They sell it here, too. smiley - biggrin Even I pay attention, though I am not too fond of smiley - ale.

I'm drinking Tasmanian smiley - ale right now. Very nice, but it makes me want to go to bed... But I can't do that until I've finished the hootoo backlog.

Lydia Koidula

Post 515

Hati

Now that's something they don't sell here. smiley - laugh

Finished the back log? Is that even possible? smiley - huh

It's never really finished, I just beat it down to a manageable pile.

It definitely feels like it sometimes. But I've survived the backlog, and here I am for another dose of it.

I'm a bit nervous just at the moment. This house has a dishwasher in it; I've never used one before. (Well, I have, but that was when I w*rked in a restaurant and it was an industrial-strength machine.) Tonight's the night for reading the instructions and trying it out. There are all sorts of very strange noises coming from the kitchen now. If anything goes wrong I'll have to buy new plates tomorrow.

Lydia Koidula

Post 519

Hati

smiley - doh You mean you read the instructions first?! But, but, but... What will you do when something goes wrong? I thought that's when people are supposed to read the instructions. smiley - silly

That's when I'll read the insurance policy. smiley - winkeye

I must make another mess in the kitchen so I have an excuse to use the dishwasher again...
