h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Today. the 3rd of Febuary 2008 my son and I took the very big step of moving down to the coastal town.

There was a very serious reason for it. I was totally unable to breathe in the town I had been living in ever since I arrived in England in 1991. I had come tempoarily to care for my mother aged 90 who had been ill.

I stayed on and became ill myself

What a wonderful choice of a home this lovely seaside town. Crisp wonderful air blowing right across from Siberia - so I say - probably all wrong - and kind lovely people who smile and greet me in a wheelchair and do not hurry past me with averted eyes. Funny how people in wheelchairs attract totally different reactions.

I believe that it is the move that both saved our lives and has enabled me to have a life of some quality.

Thank you, this lovely seaside town of south-east Kent - so full of happiness, parades and lovely smiling people.

Christiane, it is so nice to hear that you are content where you are. I noticed you had a short spell in hospital. I hope it was nothing too serious and you are recovered?

one of these,s days i will go to visit my neice in sutton on sea, i hope, as they have a bungalow that has a gate to the beach.

Glad to see you're back posting on h2g2, after your temporary glitch.

As I said already, I've converted your AlsoRan80 account so next week you will just sign in as normal when the new BBC iD system comes on line.

Christiane, what a wonderful place to live and I would also love to live by the seaside but the nearest place that I lived was Ashington which was 2-3 miles away from Newbiggin by the Sea. I have had many happy holidays with my family at various seaside resorts in Essex and they are full of happy memories.

Thanks for your note. Very kind of you. Yes I had a short spell in hospital. You know at my great age things begin to wear out!! I heed what our old motor cars used to have in the olden days....! seriously though my poor lungs are complaining bitterly about the extra work this winter weather is putting on them - and then today I was foolish and went to visit K. Very silly of me. anyway, I must learn to keep myself well covered and stay indoors. !!

Yes, but not for at least 15 months. In the summer of next year, I hope to be part of a concert tour of Scotland. There is much to do between now and then.

I'm singing in a Pops Concert the day before Valentine's Day. I'm writing a song for the occasion. It's called "I Love You, Julie Andrews." I've had a crush on Miss Andrews for 50 years now.

Christiane, are you still in touch with Zarquon by any chance? I have emailed her about the new sign in procedure as she hasn't been on h2g2 much of late. I heard from her at Christmas but don't have a phone number for her.

She is busy but it would be a shame to lose her if she wants to drop in now and again.

A phone call might be the only way to reach her before the 9th. If you have her address, can you look up her phone number? In the U.S., we have some websites that can look up a person's number if you type in the name and address.
