ringo (it's not all right)

i know, i know...

it's a hymn, it's pathetic, it's absolutely nothing intellectual...
but it's simply great.

'all you good, good people' by Embrace

Bassman - Funny how people never ceases to amaze me!

I might have had this one before, but it's Californication by the Red Hot Chili Peppers today.

Ringo - where's everybody else. This used to be a great thread before the BBC took over now nobody seems to care about good music any more.smiley - cry

i think you've had this before, but never mind - it's a fantastic song! smiley - biggrin

don't know where all the people left to, maybe it was me, being too much absent during the last months, maybe it's because we're not allowed to write even the slightest lyrics, maybe they come back soon.
the song i like most of the red hot chili peppers is 'breaking the girl'

Don't know that one, I'll maybe have to make more of an effort to catch up with some of their other stuff. I've got Blood Sex Sugar Magic, but I'm not a great fan. Under the Bridge is fantastic, but the rest don't do much for me I'm afraid. I bought it on the strength of a review in Bassiat magazine, Flea had just been voted the all time #1 Bass player, and this was his best work to date.

I got one of the Rage Against The Machine CDs as well on the strength of the same article, the one with the Monk on fire on the cover. It's got Bombtrack and Killing In The Name Of on. It's a great CD, but I have to be in the mood to listen to it, normally after listening to Paranoid and Sunburnt (Skunk Anansie).

'Breaking the girl' is on "Blood, sugar, sex, magic", too.
For listening to 'Rage against the machine' you really have to be in a special mood.

here's a special one for you as a bass player:

'the reptiles and i' from Shriekback

no drums - the complete rythm section is done by an (acoustic, i think) bass guitar. A marvellous track!

All of you - have some fine days out there!

Cheers ringo, I'll have to see if I can give that a listen....

Been listening to my new Ten Live Double CD - Never Say Goodbye.

I'd put it right up there with Live And Dangerous and Made in Japan. It's truely awesome.

I can't believe that the singer/songwriter Gary Hughes can weave such beautiful meaningful lyrics out of everyday words that you and I use. (Although one of the songs contains the word EDIFICE!)

I saw Jethro Tull supporting Marillion at the "Garden Party" in Milton Keynes - mid 80's. smiley - biggrin

Great band. My fave song of theirs is Pussy Willow, in fact I think that should be my song for the day.

Welcome TC !

...Jethro Tull as support for Marillion - it's a strange world, indeed.
have a couple of days off work, therefore more time for h2g2 and the rest of life... and to think about it. I love this time "in between the years", as we say here on the continent.

song for today is the Cure's 'in between days'

When Ian Anderson went on the stage, he was saying how Fish had joked with him at a previous gig when Marillion were doing the support, that Marillion would have Jethro Tull support them when they were world wide mega rock gods!!

Like you say - strange old world. smiley - biggrin

I must admit I was there for Marillion..... being a bit of a "Prog Head".

I saw Jethro Tull once. As far as I remember, there was no supporting group.

I got into a band called Ten recently, who released their latest album in the middle of December. I ordered my copy along with a couple of older CD's, which duely arrived in the post. smiley - smiley

It turns out that the Lead Guitarist has left the band in recent months. (This is where you need to be familiar with Spinal Tap). I thought that he should call his new band Eleven, because they're going to be "One Better" than Ten!!! smiley - biggrin

it's a calm, slow sunday afternoon round here and a song that fits perfectly to this is the Tindersticks 'nectar'.

if you listen for too long to the Tindersticks you think inevitably about committing suicide. But then you can't do it becuase you wouldn't be able to the Tindersticks anymore. smiley - winkeye
