Researcher 1214535 Posted Jun 2, 2005
well I'm glad you got it sorted at last .... now you can sit back and enjoy the experience
how's the head? Did the Merlot live up to expectations??
My day ...... well, I'd like to say it's luverly to be back but I'd be lying .... dug my desk out of the cr*p, skimmed the 39 new e-mails, had a - now I have to get on with the real w*rk so not so much fun any more
What're you up to today ??
hello
Busa1400 Posted Jun 2, 2005
I am interviewing witnesses on a big conspiracy that comes to trial in Luton Crown court in October. 6 Indians kidnapped and murdered a bloke that had been involved in a relationship with a woman from a higher caste.
I have spoken to going places, I have always wanted to go to Egypt, they have a 7 night half board in a 4* Hotel, on the Red Sea with flights and transfers for £400 per person, so am going to book that. Give me something to look forward to.
I am sitting here eating Flap Jack and Cappucino with sugar, how bad is that

That sounds grand on all counts really ....
Being a defence lawyer sounds a bit more interesting than conveyancing ... we long for a nice crisis to relieve the monotony, y'know like a redemption figure not turning up or something
when are you planning on going to Egypt ??? Nice.
I've just been round to the kitchen to make myself a drink and found some kind soul has left some ginger biccies out .... so now I have a big mug of hot and a handful of biccies and I'm a happy for the mo

Busa1400 Posted Jun 2, 2005
The flight out is on Nov 4 09.15 from Gatwick and returns on 11 Nov landing here at 22.10.
Defence Lawyer is fun, but there are times when it is hardf to be objective and professional, peadophiles etc. You may have heard of Operation Ore, where a computer in texas was raided and numerous credit card details found relating to people in UK, alot of solicitors got work from that, and it is not easy work. You have to review all the evidence and some of it is quite disturbing, then you have to mitigate it. Other than fraud, in everything I do, having been qualified 12 years it is quite heavy stuff, other than my stint at Magistartes court, there is a victim. There are times when me as person thinks that a particular client should be locked up, but you have to put it to the back of your mind and test the evidence. Anyhow enough of me rambling on

November seems an awfully long way off at the mo but it'll come round quick enough no doubt
I can understand what you say about your work .... I chat quite a lot with one of the women here who spends her time in court, interviewing witnesses, that kind of thing. I'm not sure I could be as objective as she is about some of the work .... especially the stuff involving kids. But I guess it becomes a part of the job and you just have to deal with it
Our problems are usually administrative which, while being a right royal pain in the ar*e for everyone, are slightly less emotive I think (well for us, not necessarily for the clients ) .... it's like all things in life, your job as well no doubt, you just have to try to find the funny side of things

Busa1400 Posted Jun 2, 2005
This did happen,
HHJ (slightly deaf) Do you have anything to say before I sentence you
Client (stroppy) f**k all (mumbled)
HHJ to Clerk What did he say
Clerk to HHJ F**k all
HHJ I could have sworn he said something

Researcher 1214535 Posted Jun 2, 2005
.... I bet you get some quite funny stuff going on sometimes .... I had an e-mail somewhere with a load of these wittiscisms that had supposedly come out of the Court .... I'll have a search round and see if I can find it later and send it to you ... no doubt you'll have already heard most of 'em
When are you picking your keys up??
hello
Busa1400 Posted Jun 2, 2005
The day has just gone so fast.
i have been told my car is about 600 to fix, joy of joys.
I am going to go soon, brain fried. I am constantly digesting every morsel of information to see if it has any relevance to my client, had enough now.
xx

Researcher 1214535 Posted Jun 2, 2005
better that the day go fast than that it drags ...
600 quid isn't so good is it .... but I guess you have little choice but to pay up really, is the car in the garage already?? Makes my 125 quid look peanuts
I hope your client appreciates your efforts .... you should go home and have another glass of that nice Merlot.
I'm off to the gym tonight .... a nice long run will do me good .... got 3 completions tomorrow and not a full set of figures on any of 'em. Honestly, can't even have a couple of days off without the placing falling to bits
be safe

Well good morning
It was good to go and have a look around the house last night, apparently the pond that I have inherited has got lots of fish in so that's quite nteresting. OOOhh OOOHHh, they had to leave q HUGE stainless Steel American fridge freezer because it was too big to fit in there new house, it is like a small room on it's own!!!
So what you upto, i remember you saying that you do not have figures for completions you are doing, how stressful is that.
The sun is out honey, and it's Friday
hello
Researcher 1214535 Posted Jun 3, 2005
hi there
can't stop ... up to my armpits today ... redemption figures missing (remember that one) and the BSocs computers have crashed so no hope of anything there for a while , sposed to be doing a simultaneous exch and comp but the sellers sols are in the same boat with the redemption figure so that doesn't look like it'll complete today either ... I don't get stressed about it tho, no point, nothing I can do to change it
other than that and 2 exchanges which have just happened - everything's going swimmingly
Glad the house lived up to expectations .... you lucky b*gger - I've always wanted one of those great big fridges ... no more hunting around at the back of the shelf for the cheese ... problem is I'd have to knock several walls down to fit one it
so what plans for the weekend??
hello
Busa1400 Posted Jun 3, 2005
I don't really have any, I have been invited to go down to a friends in stratford in London, there is a new club or something down there, so might do that.
i need to cut the grass in the back garden of the new house and arrange for some letting agents to come round.
weather is sunny so the bike might come out
xx
hello
Researcher 1214535 Posted Jun 3, 2005
well, one redemption figure is on it's way to us ... should be here by lunchtime they say ... who knows about the other one
Sounds like you've decided to rent your place out??
No kids this weekend?? I've got my 2 so that means I'll spend a goodly part of the weekend ferrying them here and there. Will go to the gym on Sunday morning tho, I insist on that at least. Otherwise it'll either be more gardening or a spot of decorating.
I envy you the clubbing and biking
hello
Busa1400 Posted Jun 3, 2005
When you get some free time, I'll come down on the bike and we can take a run somewhere, sitting outside the ACE cafe watching world go by is good, cool lemonade, bit of food and fools playing ojn bikes, great
hello
Researcher 1214535 Posted Jun 3, 2005
sounds like fun
I'm gonna say ttfn now .... I've got such a ton of stuff to get done before I leave that I know I won't get time to come back here
so, have a good weekend honey - enjoy the bike and the club and the gardening and and and
I'll be around over the weekend in the evenings no doubt if you get the chance to pop by ... otherwise catch you again next week
Key: Complain about this post
