I see from your PS that you're a lawyer - I work in a Solicitors (more of a dogsbody tho ) so how's that for a co-incidence!!
I'll be around later on this evening, so drop me a line if you fancy a chat

Busa1400 Posted May 25, 2005
As I thought, my friend wanted advice, "i've been stopped speeding, any chance.........." ooh well the glass of wine was quite nice.
So what type of work does the solicitors practice you work in do.
Well I suppose I better get off to court and mutter on like I know what I'm talking about.
x
Michael.
hello
Researcher 1214535 Posted May 25, 2005
mornin'
honestly... this ityin' site is taking soooooooo long to load this morning .... might have to get on with some work and that would be a shame
We do a bit of everything here ... jack of all trades, y'know the sort of thing, but I'm in Conveyancing (for my sins) what about you?
We all mutter and pretend y'know .... it goes with the territory and best tell your friends in future that you're a tax inspector or something .... I usually find that does the trick
have lots of fun in Court
catch you later?
hello
Busa1400 Posted May 25, 2005
I am a criminal defence Solicitor, which given my home page entry you will be aware makes me chuckle that the Law Society allow me to practice, but as a by the by do you remember Sarah Wentworth the English nanny that shook the baby to death in America, she has changed her name and is now a Soliciotr in london with the Law Soceity's blessing.
The joy of being a defence solicitor is that, you travel all the way to court for the client not to turn up!!!!!
Conveyancing, I have exchanged contracts on my new house today, with hopefully a completion of Friday
So what neck of the woods you from
Michael

Researcher 1214535 Posted May 25, 2005
yes, I guess there is a certain irony to that .... but then who's to say you're not just as qualified as the next person to do the job - it might be said perhaps a little More Qualified than some
Well done you with the house ... and wadya mean *hopefully a completion of Friday* ... oh ye of little faith!! If your conveyancing chappie has said it'll complete on Friday then complete on Friday it will .... or have you done your own conveyancing - so you've got your work cut out for you this week? Are you selling as well??
I'm in North Herts so not far from MK .... I bring my girlies up there shopping fairly regularly ... in fact we're coming up next Tuesday
well, best press on for a bit ...
ttfn
hello
Busa1400 Posted May 25, 2005
No fortunately I didn't do my own conveyancing, no I'm not selling, I have been renting for a bit, however the couple I am buying from, I spoke too this morning and they said they would complete on Friday and be out Sat or Sun hopefully, NO, so i spoke to the chap doing my conveyancing and said I want to complete Friday but if I have to hold off till Tuesday I can.
I used to be on the Duty Solicitor Panel for North Herts, I can remember driving from Milton Keynes to Stevenage and Hatfeild Police Stations in the middle of the night, then home, then back for court at 9.00am
My kids love the city, I have a 16year old son and a 13 year old daughter aswell as an adopted 22year old and me at my tender years
Oh well back to saving the wrongly persecuted
hello
Researcher 1214535 Posted May 25, 2005
you should demand your rights .... if you complete on Friday then you can be a real heartless b*stard and boot the sellers out into the cold and snow after all you're a Solicitor so you Have No Ruth ... remember??!?
hmmm, bet you're glad you're not driving up and down the M1 in the middle of the night now (well I assume you aren't) ... I'm suffering from sleep deprivation today after spending far too long chatting on here last night and I know it's no fun
My girls are 13 (almost) and 16 (almost) and they love MK for shopping ... have you always lived there??
anyways gotta for a mo ... client here
hello
Busa1400 Posted May 25, 2005
Yeah, I could kick him out, but the grief if he doesn't move etc etc
I have lived in Milton Keynes for the last 16 years, before that Bedford, which is where I grew up and went to school, Dad was a policemen in Beds Police, perhaps that's why I had the hankering for defence work.
Sleep deprivation, been there done that, not good.
hello
Researcher 1214535 Posted May 25, 2005
no, not good, but sometimes worth it
I'm at home now .... aah the joys of working part time . Mind you, it's now the chaos starts in earnest ... girls due home from school any minute - eldest had the first of her GCSEs today so I'm expecting lots of door slamming and huffin'n'puffin'
D'ya get onto hootoo from home or is it something you just access at work?
I won't be around much now until 10ish so if I don't catch you again today then maybe tomorrow?
It's been good chatting
hello
Busa1400 Posted May 25, 2005
I will access again about 10ish tonight before I go to bed, but mainly just in the day.
If weather holds going to get motorbike out tonight and blow some cobwebs away.
I finish work at 17.30

Researcher 1214535 Posted May 25, 2005
hope you had a good trip out ... what kind of bike do you ride?? Can't beat it on a nice evening I reckon
You'll have to trade that nasty full-time work in for something more ... part-time, finishing around 3 y'know - I can recommend it ... only trouble is the pay is kinda part-time as well
catch you soon
hello
Busa1400 Posted May 25, 2005
I ride a Suzuki 1400 hayabusa, with nitros, I have a picture of it, I will have to email it too you sometime.
I would love to finish around 3, it would be soooooo good.
So what you been upto this evening

hello
Researcher 1214535 Posted May 25, 2005
aaah, hence your name then
I haven't been up to anything nearly as exciting as you by the sounds ... a little trip to Sainsburys to part with the National Debt, and some domestic stuff is all
then of course, back here for my daily fix
hello
Busa1400 Posted May 25, 2005
I ache, I l;ove going out on the bike, but i ride it too fast and the wind beats me up.
I am a Tesco's type of man personally, they have jusat started doing these rice crispies in chocolate, oh my god, I am going to die fat.
I'm in court tommorrow on bail apps then a poxy trial, that i should lose spectacularly, as my client is a moron.
what you upto
x
hello
Researcher 1214535 Posted May 25, 2005
I spent many years on the back of a bike getting beaten up by the wind so I know what you mean great fun tho .... I miss it on a nice day but not in the rain
most clients are morons aren't they? or is it just ours??
I have a sweet tooth also but try veeeeeeeery hard not to give into it which is tricky when all the kids do is eat eat eat morning noon and night
I've got the usual round of fun fun fun at work tomorrow, a couple of completions which shouldn't create too many problems then back home for some more domestic stuff and back here once the girls relinquish their vicelike grip on the pc
you sound like you enjoy your job despite the moronic clients
btw I'm Karen
hello
Busa1400 Posted May 25, 2005
I do enjoy the work really, I like the constant variety of cases, there is nothing better (well maybe one thing) than walking a client out of court after a big police operation. It's a good buzz.
Tonight was justy to nice to miss on the bike, I might nip down Ace cafe on Friday, lots of bikes to sit watch whilst enjoying some down time.
I only have my kids every other weekend so, computers my own.
My names Michael, but I only get called that if i have dropped the ball, everyone calls me Mick.
