Hmmm, same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I didn't so much mind the posting being removed (or was it edited? can't remember) but it did seem odd that a posting that was way more than a year old on a totally dead thread was suddenly yikes'd.

Well there's only one thing worse than having all your conversations scrutinised and tha'ts being ignored.

I don't tend to lurk much - I much prefer participating on threads - so it always comes as a bit of a surprise to be reminded of the possibly many, many lurkers out there.

Ah well, takes all kinds to make up a world . . .

I've noticed that a few old threads are being revived by newbies. I suppose there's always a chance that some of them are finding the threads and yikesing them... Though that's no less weird than the possibility of a stalker.

What would you call someone who wanders around old threads looking for stuff? A thread coroner? Post pathologist? And I suppose that means you'd call someone who revives dead threads a malefacteur?

Anyway... Yes. Would people like to link to the postings which have been hidden, or would that only encourage voundoun rites?

My money's on Apparition, or whatever he's calling himself nowadays.

Or you, Jordan...

Well in this particular case I would say Apparition/Wraith/RtmC/Bain/Garard.

Still I could be wrongt.

(Perhaps I should have included * in that little list)

Me?

Fine. I have not trawled through the conversation archives to search for objectionable postings, and am not responsible for the yikesing of any posting mentioned in this thread. Furthermore, the only posting more than a week old which I have yikesed was the post in the 'DTD' thread, and which I openly admitted to at the time. I'd go so far as to say 'the only posting more than a couple of days old,' but I can't confirm that.

Incidentally, if anyone thinks there was a barb implicit in my earlier quip about reviving old threads, there wasn't. smiley - smiley It was just an observation I liked too much to refrain from sharing -- the idea of 'zombie threads'. smiley - smiley

As for your speculations about Apparition... well, I wouldn't know, so I leave you to it.

Oh! I know, I know, but I just can't resist. Az said this in the 'God' thread:

Not me - don't even remember which thread it was, though it had to do with me mentioning Apple's RL name (which I reckon I got from Jimster and others mentioning it on the DTD thread). As I said, I don't disagree with it being removed or edited - I was out of line to post someone's RL name on a thread so that's fine. Just odd that an old thread I don't even remember got yikes'd.

'Great minds think alike, but fools seldom differ.'

Something my father (and probably lots of people's fathers) was quite fond of saying. Glad you liked it.

I seem to have went into smiley overload... Anyway, I didn't have a father, but my gran certainly liked it. We often completed each others' sentences or trains of thought, and that's what she would say afterwards.

Hey, it made more sense than telepathy!
