Hello and welcome to the guide. I was browsing a bit and I saw your nickname. I had to laugh. "See that horse? His name is Mandarb." Or something like that. Its nice to see another fan here.
Take some time to look around, there's a lot of good stuff around. No doubt someone who knows more about it than I will stop by and tell you about the Aces page and whatnot.
In the meantime, nice to meet you. Feel free to say hello anytime.

And welcome from me too!
Hi. You may remember me from such threads as "So you want to save the Galaxy?" and "Mt. Sandcastle's Brilliant Donut Stall".
Wecome! When you've read the backlog on saving the Galaxy, you'll be more than welcome to joins us. I was in deep character when we met before (I'm a Method poster.), I'm less moody than that in virtual life.
Why not visit the Donut stall at the beach to meet under less fraught circumstances?

Hello.
OK, so I guess you got a little confused by the "So you want to save the Galaxy?" thread, huh?
Don't worry, it's just one of those perfectly normal, but wierd things that goes on in a place like this. Just as long as you read some of the backlog, you'll be fine. Besides, it looks like you've been made an engineer on the Esirptretne...
OK, so what is there around here that *is* normal...? Erm...sorry, I can't really think of anything that could seriously be classed as normal... But is sure is a lot of fun.
Hmm...me thinks you might like to know where the Ace Page is... Well, it here, at http://www.h2g2.com/A214796
Another place you might be interested in is http://www.h2g2.com/u54963 That's the H2G2 Post, the community newspaper...
...I've got loads of other links on my homepage to if you want...Just click on my name at the top of this post.
Any questions? Just ask. I don't mind answering anything.

E

I was very happy to see another Jordan fan here. I was just fooling around one evening and I saw you. I am fairly new here as well. It might be nice to see if we can find a way to start some kind of "Wheel of Time" area.
Also, I don't know if you visit, but theres a pretty good newsgroup out there, with pointers to a really good FAQ.
I have to ask, now that I know who you are, will you be changinr your nickname to Faile?
Have a good one,
Joe

Hi Joolsee-
Just so you know what Mandarb and I are talking about, I'll fill you in.
We are both fans of an author named Robert Jordan. Jordan has written a sci-fi/fantasy epic called "The Wheel of Time"
Its a great series, and the ninth volume, titled "Winters Heart" is expected to be released in the states sometime this fall.
The name Mandarb was taken from the books.
If you want to know more, I'm sure one of us will be happy to tell you as much as you can possibly want to know.

Hang on! Did you just say the 9th book was soon to be released in the states...? That means it shouldn't be long before it's released in England!
Welcome!
Joe Travel Posted Mar 10, 2000
Thats what the Tor site claims, at any rate.
They are at Torbooks.com (Sorry, I have'nt yet learned to add a link here).
Theres a great deal of buzz about book 9 on the newsgroup.
And just to be safe, I added it as an entry, although I didn't submit it.

I'll have a look.:-) Thanks!:-) And to add a link, you just type the address & it does it automatically... So the one you just gave me would be http://www.torbooks.com Is that the right address...? Anyway, as long as you write the "http://" bit it'll get turned into a link.:-) I'll go have a look then shall I?:-)
Welcome!
Joe Travel Posted Mar 10, 2000
Thanks very much for the tip. That is the correct address exactly. And in case your'e interested heres the newsgroup:
aol://5863:126/rec.arts.sf.written.robert-jordan
and the FAQ:
http://hugin.imat.com/jordan/
I recommend if you want to post a question, check the FAQ first. Some of the regulars can get rather testy with new people, unfortunately.
Welcome!

I like the thread idea too. Since you know more about using the Guide than I do, perhaps you can suggest what I should do to go about starting one.
I'd be happy to try and whomp up some content and see if we can get the ball rolling.
Thanks for liking th idea right off and in advance for your help.

Love the idea of a new thread, keep me informed. If you want to e-mail me, my address is [email protected].
As you know I am quite a beginner here and am still getting my bearings.
And no, I won't be changing my name, well not yet anyway
Welcome!

Well... Just see if there's any entries on it...then start a forum. Easily done... I'll go have a look round now if you'd like...?

*E hits herself on her head for her stupidity*
Ow!
Anyway, I think I must be going braindead... Why don't we just start the forum off at Joe's article about the release of Book 9. Which leads to one last problem...
What's it going to be about...and who do you want to be...?
Welcome!
