Journal Entries
07-12-2001. Not much else really...
Posted Dec 7, 2001
This isn't exactly the most exciting day of the week yet... or maybe it is... my week's not really been gripping! I am currently sitting in the middle of a lesson where I really should be working, but this is much more interesting.
What's been happening with me then? That's kind of the reason you write a journal entry isn't it...
Well, I'm trying to apply to university. The deadline for applications is next week, and I've not finished my personal statement yet... the words 'fine' and 'cutting it' spring to mind!
And, um... that's kind of it... I'll write more when I've got more to, well, write about...

Wow, another journal entry!
Posted Sep 20, 2001
So, what's going on in my life. Well, I'm now in Upper Sixth and very scary it is too! To be able to look at every student in my school [not in my own year, obv.] and know I'm older than them is a strange experience!!! Duties are flooding in now too, which is more interesting!
Also we've had Ofsted in, so that's be quite an experience, having meetings with them [as Deputy Head Girl] and having them come into my lessons! Scary!
Nonetheless, h2g2's been a bit on a backburner recently, with me not being on half as much as I want to be! If my posts are a little sporadic, you know why!
Now in the process of applying to universities, my first choice being Edinburgh [so, not very far away then(!)]. Going to open days etc lots too. UCAS forms to be filled out v. soon too. Argh!
And then... it's work experience! Oh, yes, and school work, almost forgot that!
And, anyway, that's about all that's going on in my life at the moment...

Results Day........ AAAARGH!
Posted Aug 16, 2001
Well, the dreaded day of AS Level results has finally come to the dark depths of sunny Britain... going to get my results soon, but I'll only post this journal entry when I've got them.
Well, due to projected grades lower than the Earth's core, I had very little hope of doing anything better than 4 E grades... well, just to up the tension a little further (for me: you're probably bored already! ) the wonderful subjects are:
Geography - the course I worked hardest on for the last year... my highest hope and the subject I'm continuing on at university.
Art - highest workload but as I'm not continuing in this field I've not put all my work into it, concentrating instead on Geography. Not hopeful for the results.
Design - the all-round disasterous subject. People came out crying from the exam, and I can only name two in my whole class who are confident, and I'm not one...
Computing - the course that doesn't really matter (well, as long as I'm not aiming to go to Southampton, who want a B @ AS). I'm dropping this subject next year and couldn't wait to get out!
Just a note now: to go to the university I want in September 2002 I have to get ABB in my final exams next year. These can be used to predict those, so fingers crossed.
*Collects bag.*
Right I'm leaving... going to collect my results. See you when I get back!
-----
*Shakes in through the front door, her friend (chazlet56 : U183010) in tow as they go to her bedroom to finally open the envelope [they chickened out of opening them at school and ran for home]...*
>>tension mounts<<
*The first piece of paper comes out: a bright green A4 sheet. Trying not to let the colour hurt her eyes she scans the black writing. A memo to the students "There may be a number of issues arising from your results..."*
That's encouraging!
*Second piece a tiny page of bright orange. IE reads: "Careers Centre Survey" and discards it to the side.*
Ah! Finally, results! Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...
Well, here they are (listed first in module grades)
Geography-- Mod 1 : 69/100 : C
----------- Mod 2 : 73/100 : B
----------- Mod 3 : 83/100 : A
----------Total : B
Art-------- Mod 1 : 73/90 : A
----------- Mod 2 : 61/90 : C
----------- Mod 3 : Still Pending... more to come later...
----------Total so far : B
Design----- Mod 1 : 63/90 : B
----------- Mod 2 : 36/120 : U (AAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!)
----------- Mod 3 : 47/90 : D
----------Total : E *jaws theme music seems most appropriate*
Computing-- Mod 1 : 89/105 : A
----------- Mod 2 : 61/105 : D
----------- Mod 3 : 81/90 : A
----------Total : B (absolutely AMAZING!)
Well, there you have it. What can I say really? The B's are great! The E is disappointing , but echoes the general grades around our class, and yes, my technology department's written a complaint! Roll on Upper 6th (not!).
And if you've read all of this I shake your hand! You must... be strange! I congratulate you in this!
