Welcome to H2G2! Seems you are in great hands with Joanna....she's given you some of the best links here!
I'm just glad your "Nick" is the only German on the page....otherwise I'd have had to call for a translator!

Following in quick succesion of two other very able welcomers, mein Deutsche is also a little rusty, maybe we should all take refresher courses, but then when you have a Babel fish it doesn't really matter. Welcommen, and hope you enjoy life here at H2G2.

OOPS!!
Thanks for all the greetings (and in particular the fish ), but maybe I should point out I'm not German and not even that brilliant at speaking German!
Sehrheiss arose from my need for a new user ID last summer when working in the Allgaeu, South Germany.
I feel such a fraud!

I categorically deny jumping to the conclusion that anyone was from anywhere ever. I just said that "Guten tag" was as far as my german went
It's nice to know I have followers, though

I think this place is cool!
Only problem is it's just going to cause my phone bill to rise and rise and my work ethics to plummet (which admittedly doesn't take much in the way of distractions!!)

Here we are.....a virtual community of followers! Are we... *doomed* ..to be lost.. forever....tracking a circular trail... leading nowhere?... Is this... *our* future? Spock.... Can *this* future be changed... for the better?
Oh......sorry. Watched old original Star Trek episode last night. Takes me a while to get out of the Shatner "mindset!

this future *can* be changed for the better.
Honest.
Okay, so I hardly watched any of the original series, and have seen around 1 hour of TV this year... but anyway...

Sorry, Joanna.....it was a reference to William Shatners'(Captain Kirk) broken speech during his overacting.......which he does SOOOO well!
