If you want to play a joke on someone the next time you hike Mt St. Helen, get a helicopter and drop rubber tire tubes into the opening of the valcano. Then, set them on fire. It looks like there will be an erruption and you get a good laugh. Don't get fined though. Such a prank may cost you $1500.00 as a friend of as friend was so charged.

I didn't mean to scare you-it's just a prank someone played with a truckload of rubber tubes once, a very long time ago. I thought it was funny. Oh well, I'm gearing up to go to the lodge at the top on mT Washington. It's a rugged hike and the weather is unpredictable. Once a friend of mine and I were camping on the summit of a MT in the Presidental ranges and the wind was so strong we were nearly swept off the peak.

You live in the UK. That's awesome. I lived there of about six months- a long time ago, in Malvern with a Bobby and his family-part of a student exchange program. Anyway, I hope you do come to the USA to hike again one day.
Hi

aye i will but i need to do the appalation trail again cause last time i walked any of it was 10 or 11 years ago
Hi
fearlessattilathehun Posted Feb 15, 2005
Yeah, the appalation trail is really great. I've hiked parts of it myself. Parts of the trail go along Mt Washington, NH. The trail is a bit rugged but the scenery is beautiful. There is a lodge called Yhe Joe Dodge Lodge in Pinkham Notch, NH which is part of the Appalation Mountain Club. The cost is $46.00 per night which includes room and breakfast and dinner. It's a great place to stay before a hike. There are other lodges in the White Mountains, NH which are nice with meals. Other lodges are more rustic. You can backpack in. there are also campgrounds for tent camping. Some friends have hiked from lodge to lodge through the White Mountains and had a wonderful experience. So, I highly recommend the Appalaltion Mountain Club trails and lodges. Adieu!

Hi
fearlessattilathehun Posted Feb 25, 2005
Well, I prefer to hike when there are other people around. I tried to camp alone once and got scared and had to leave. It was in the winter and the cold and everything. I like spring and summer camping and hiking. Have you ever been hiking or camping and heard the morning birdsong? Aye, around 6am near May or June the Song Birds sing a beautiful chorus in Upstate NY. I awoke one morning and was awed.
Hi
dakeyras Posted Feb 25, 2005
aye i woke up to bird song and shouted till it shut up and went back to sleep but thats just cause i dont like being woken up at 6 in the morning although i have been walking about 5/6 and heard it so i sat a spell and had breakfast listening to the bird song
Hi
fearlessattilathehun Posted Feb 25, 2005
That's funny because at first the birds were groaning like they were all dying or something. Well, after a few minutes they were singing their little songs. It certainly was odd. There were horrible electrical storms at that time though. Threatening thunder clouds, bolts of lightening hit the ground and started fires, and rain poured for weeks and weeks. People came out camping anyway though and had to go home.I hope the weather is better for outings this year.
