What a wondrous thing...

Well, I'm home, and I'm not to sure whether or not to be happy about it! I only get my room back at the end of the month, so I'm sleeping on the sittingroom floor which isn't comfortable - but I've got the TV!!

It's kind of weird living with my parents again, but I'm sure that will sort itself out after a while too. I'm going out for a drink with a friend I haven't spoken to properly in nearly a year (every time we have met when I've been home on holidays she's had her 2 year old daughter with her, and that tends to limit conversation).

Any mad plans for the week/weekend??

Floor-sleeping never is really comfortable. I have to say that it's a bit of a bummer that you have to wait until the end of the month to get your own room back, but as you said, at least you've got the TV.

Children could limit the topics of and the general substance of a conversation, I agree. Some things are just not meant for kids, while they need constant supervision (if they run around) so that they don't get stepped on, which kinda throws the attention away a bit from the conversation at hand.

I was going to the Summer Party at work this weekend (Pirate Theme), but then I got hit with a ton of bills, so I don't have any money to do anything right now. I am going to drop my flatmate off at the airport, since she's going home to Sweden for about 2 weeks, on vacation. She gives me money to take her to the airport, I take her there and am happy because I've got some money. I think I've got about £10 until the 24th. Last week or so, I've been living on bread and water, more or less. I'm really happy I got some vvouchers for the canteen here at work, or those £10 would have been considerably less.
But I guess I'll live. smiley - smiley If I start getting really desperate, I guess I'll just have to call home to my folks.

Hey howdy, CoX. Yes, in deed thhere are a lot of contributions to this thread, however, Miss Lost in Germany is no longer in Germany, which I presume has resulted in a shortage of computer access, and since only she and I were talking in here, there wasn't much more for me to do but to wait til next entry, since talking to myself isn't really interesting.smiley - smiley

LiG is actually from Ireland, and was in Germany due to studies. She has now returned to her native Ireland since the school year in Germany is over.
And I'm not really amused by talking to myself, so I decided to post my reply to her last entry, and then wait for her reply to that. That's why this thread has kinda slowed down a bit.smiley - smiley

Hey! Back again. This lack of access to computers is driving me mad. I think it must be a disease that I can't survive a few days without internet without going slowly mad!!

I started talking to my mother in German yesterday when she came in to wake me up. She was more than a little confused!!

I'm about to start the horrible job search tomorrow - which I'm not pleased about, and it won't be helped by the fact that I haven't been in before 4am for the past three nights (see, some things don't change, even when I come home!)

L i G (who will have to find herself a new name cause this doesn't suit anymore!!)

Welcome back.smiley - smiley

I can see how your mother would have been slightly confused by your German in the wee hours of the morning (or was it closer to noon?).

I know how you feel about the lack of internet hookup access. I was the sme way when I first got here. In Sweden, I had my computer and modem, so I could hook up pretty much whenever I wanted to, and then, when I moved here, I didn't have access to anything that even resembbled a computer for over a week. It was very traumatic, I can tell you. But it'll get better after a while. I've settled down to a "work-only" routine with my internet access, and for the time being, that's quite enough.smiley - smiley

Good luck on the job-hunt.

Ok, I admit it, it was a little closer to noon when she woke me up. But hey I'm still on holidays here - for the moment!!

I've an interview tomorrow which I'm not too pleased about (just because of the the effort involved - I'd actually love to get a job that pays me!!)

Apart from that all quiet here (except for my mind working overtime at trying to find a new name for myself here - LiG doesn't work anymore does it?)

When you go on holiday you're allowed to sleep till noon. I even think it's in the instruction manual for holidays. Too bad that parents never read the manual before waking their poor, exhausted sons and daughters up at some ungodly hour of the morning.smiley - smiley

What kind of a job is the interview for? Something really cool, like... Ummm.. Bartender, or something rather uninteresting, like Call centre agent?

If you can't come up with a good new name, you can always call yourself "The Researcher formerly known as Lost in Germany". Okay, so it's not very imaginative, but at least it could be a transitional name for a while.smiley - smiley

The job was as a temp, so the interview was with an agency, and now I'm just waiting. I won't hear until next week at the earliest. That means that I've another week of living off my parents, and the trip to Scotland just won't be happening. It's kind of annoying becuase I mentioned it to my Mum last night, and she didn't have a complete fit, which means I could have been able to go. Well, we'll see what happens (I might win the lottery!!)

I'm off to watch a Gaelic football game now with my friend and her daughter which should be interesting. (I don't really understand the game so I just home I cheer in the right places!!)

Pity to hear that you can't make it to the get-together in Edinburgh. Looks like it's going to be ust a small group gathering there. The bad thing about it is that after the date was set, people start having second thoughts about it, and... Gaah.. I dunno.. I'll definitely be there, although I still haven't found (or even started looking for that matter) a place to stay. I was playing with the idea of staying up all night and then go back to Greenock with the first train from Edinburgh. Bad thing with that is that the day after a gathering is usually pretty much fun too, cause people are usually pretty hung over (if it's been a good gathering, that is) so they don't really feel like going home or doing anything that means that they have to move.smiley - smiley
Oh well, I'll see what I'll do.

Hope it was a good game.smiley - smiley

Looks like I'll just have to try to set up a Dublin gathering!!

Started work at a software translation company yesterday. Just a temp for the next two weeks - but it does mean internet access at lunchtime. Life is good (in that respect at least!)

I had a bit of a fight with a mate of mine on Thursday night, and I can tell you it wasn't pretty - tears shouting and general mayhem (over a guy, what else!) and even though we've technically got it sorted she can't seem to help rubbing in the fact that I "lost" (i.e., she got the guy). So it hasn't been the cheeriest of days. But the weather is good, I'm going to have money soon and my parents are buying me beer for a family barbeque tonight (wonders will never cease!)

Dublin get-toogether sounds nice. I'm there.smiley - smiley

That job sounds pretty nice. Okay, so it's only for two weeks, but it's still something to do during the day, instead of just "floating" around, doing nothing. (thought just occured) If today is your first day at work for that company, are you then reading this at work?

That fight with your friend doesn't sound pretty, if the tears were shouting.smiley - smiley OKay, I know, I know, that was a really really bad joke about pedant punctuation. Sorry. smiley - smiley

I'm a bit pissed off today. When I came down to my car this morning, I had gotten a parking ticket. Which is bad enough, but when you consider that my car was the only car parked on the street that had gotten a ticket, that really ticks me off. Okay, I just got paid and the ticket is only(?) for 20 pounds, but still. And I'm not even sure that my car was eligeble for a ticket., It's one thing to get a ticket when you know that the possibility of actually getting one is there, but if you've checked the signs, and it doesn't say anything about there is no parking on sundays, and you still get a ticket, then I think you are entitled to be a bit ticked off. But that's just my opinion.

In other news, my wind shield wipers are fixed, and I have a set off functioning wipers for the first time in about 8 months. Which is handy when one lives in Scotland.smiley - smiley
