Pierre de la Mer ~ sometimes slightly worried but never panicking ~ Posted Feb 18, 2002
oops, i obviously misunderstood . please tell angie i am sorry
i went for a long walk (2 hours) on the shore of roskilde fjord (denmark) yesterday. the weather was brilliant
i was born in germany, but i have lived in denmark for many years now. for the last 4 years i have been living in the town of nykøbing on the island of falster which is a beautiful, yet very flat, island in the southeastern corner of denmark
cornwall is one of the places i have long wanted to see. so is ireland and - would you believe it? - iceland... the rough nature up there fascinates me. i don't think i could live there long though
so are you from cornwall but living somewhere else now?

Yes I was born in Cornwall, land of actually cream teas. In St Ives.
Went to University in Newcastle and then lived in Munich for 6 years then Bath. Now in Hertford which is about 30 miles north of London.
I have friends living in a very rural place in Cornwall, virtually self sufficient, when I visit them I am envious but I too am not sure whether really I could live like that.
We had a Danish lady working here, she will be back again on a 6 month contract soon. I have only been to Copenhagen but liked it. I will look on the map where Falster is.
Your walk sounded great. I walked too, fields and woods nearby.
The Faroe islands sound really worth visiting too.
is ok in fact another hatched last night, called Lucky.

i spent a week in munich a few years ago. just like everybody else in north germany i always thought lederhosen were as disgusting as the rest of the south german folklore (i still think that as a matter of fact) but i was relieved to see that not all bavarians wear lederhosen and walk around the countryside, blowing long alphorns and jodeling their a**es off
how did you like munich?
i have only been to england three times. when i was a sailor i spent cirka 24 hours at Ridham Dock (Outer Thames), a few years back i spent a week in London and last spring i spent a fortnight in York. i had a wonderful time in both london and york and hope to see both citys again some time
you are right about the faroe islands, but if i had to choose i would prefer iceland. they have everything that the faroes have plus the glaciers, the geysers and the volcanos
would you accept this as a present for luckys christening party?

Thanks for the they gobbled it up really quickly but I don't want to ruin their teeth at this tender age
Munich I loved in fact I went back to visit friends last November. Its one of my favourite cities. I liked the architecture and all the different museums and art galleries, the fact I could bike everywhere, the lakes round about, the snow, the bier fests, fasching, the food, the efficient transport system (and health care!) ok efficient everything.
I also lived in Tegernsee for a few years and the men really do go round with shaving brushes on their hats and the women have window boxes full of flowers on their bosoms! Also the accent is really really strange.
Maybe you should write something in German and see if I remember it
Last night I played Weakest Link with the added interest that everything was signed - I'm learning sign language!!
I like this smiley!

but if you like i could mail you some lines in german. i trust you with my adress - [email protected] - but please don't tell anyone else around here
i'm glad and liked the
i think you are wise not to let them ruin their teeth
my good friend shazz has a T-shirt that reads "YOU are the weakest link". she is friendly enough not to wear it when i'm around. (she wears something else instead, mind you she is not *that* friendly she's married to someone else

promise, I'm gonna write from home when my daughter lets me get near the computer
surely there can't be a piercethepirate1 ??
I like this site but think there are too many strange and confusing things for non-computer types like me!
You must have been using it for ages? I noticed you had a fan club

isn't it strange how a few smileys from distant friends you have never even met in RL can brighten up a whole day?
unfortunately one cannot unsubscribe from conversations on ones own space
at least it wasn't possible last time i tried it, but maybe that has been changed as well maybe i should give it another try?
if i actually *should* succeed just open up another thread
no, wait a minute! i've got a better idea. wait and see!

it still is as i thought it would be: one cannot unsubscribe from a thread in ones own space
oh, well, no problem really
tell you mother i am cereal killer - that should calm her down
i don't mind if you-know-who reads my words to you, but maybe you do?

Her name is Celtic ie Welsh/Cornish, I always thought it meant "wave of the sea" but another Cornish friend of mine also has a daughter with the same name and says it means something about "maiden" so I'm not sure. Anyway yes its really pretty and I had it planned since I was a teenager and had a friend called that. Yours also have really nice names especially the 2nd it sounds very Tolkien.
No I don't mind her seeing - there's nothing to mind and I trust you what you are writing to her too.
We do get on amazingly well for a parent with a teenager which is supposed to be so as everyone keeps telling me. She is my favourite travelling companion which says a lot as travelling can be so . The one thing we bicker about is time on the computer and as its her computer she usually wins. Today is the last day of half term and her male friend (not actually boyfriend I don't think) who is 2 years older will be there this pm
Of course you can come to America!
Someone on hootoo who lives in Las Vegas has offered to show us around there, I do like this site! Actually although that's really nice we won't have enough time there - we already have loads booked.
All 3 are fine this morning. They are really disappointed that they won't be packed up and sent to Denmark to live with a
Ma has gone today but I'll warn all the cornflakes and shredded wheat in the vicinity to be vigilant
Here comes the ss write to you later

you are right, now that i think of it. his name really *is* very tolkien, isn't it? so is your daughters btw.
you are also right about me not writing anything that might worry you, upset her or the like. as a father i know and understand your concern.
i never have any problems with my daughter. none worth mentioning anyway. my sons are very sensible too. but then of course it is always easier to get along with the kids if they live in another city, right?
i would love to go to america agaian. i spent 5 days in LA and 5 days in NY a few years ago and had a great time. i have to win the lottery first to go back though
please tell the that living in denmark is not all that fun. we actually have an exterminator in my city who specialises in exterminating

We may be fighting over the for custody as next Monday I have an interview and may get moved.....
they don't really mind not coming to Denmark as I believe you have quite cold winters, and its so cold even here today they are on a hot water bottle
M only sees her dad on the rare occasions he is in the UK - he is Sicilian - he works on cruise ships
We are going 3 days to NY, 3 to LV and 3 to LA
you work strange shifts don't you
I read L of R years ago - saw the film then re-read book 1 and have restrained myself from reading bk 2 till I have seen film 2, only 10 months to go
If you look like VM I'm on the next plane out
pirates
Pierre de la Mer ~ sometimes slightly worried but never panicking ~ Posted Feb 25, 2002
you may get moved? is that a good or a bad thing for you?
yes, i believe denmark is a little colder than UK, but hati tells me estonia is very much colder yet
sorry to hear M does not get to see her dad very often.
yes i do work strange shifts but it's really not that bad. usually i work from 6 am till noon, but friday is a little different (sometimes i work from 6 am till 8 or 9 pm ).
but hey: i have the keys to the office and all the cpu-equipment i can ask for - and it's free . and i live only 200 paces from here
i can't say that i look like VM. my hair is shorter.
pirates
julyflower Posted Feb 26, 2002
I'll overlook the hair if that's the only difference - you can always grow it. I'll wait patiently
Did you see him in A Walk on the Moon, different but still gorgeously irresistable.
I also live 5 minutes walk from work, great isn't it. No problems defrosting a car, traffic and parking.
If I get moved it will be in the same office but maybe a different desk or even team. It would be promotion not demotion so I should be pleased but you know what us office workers are like stuck in our ruts. I have an interview on Monday so I'm revising, revising. Also a signing exam in May - its all happening this year. Also a family reunion in April
M has not seen her dad much since she was two and though you might find it hard to believe she is not particularly bothered. They get on fine when they do meet though.
Estonia somewhere else I'm going to have to look up on a map!
Its cold again but not as bad as yesterday when we were passing a hot water bottle around.
going back to work.......
