Snow in the Air and Owls in the Night

No wonder your heart was thumping Pierce! At times like this it makes you really aware that you have a heart, doesn't it? Most of the time our hearts just carry on and we're oblivious to them pumping away.

Indeed. Both scared to near death and embarrassed to near death at the same time
It's a wonder I survived

Well, I am glad you did my dear! I admit my hands froze on the steering wheel and I may have braked out of reflex when the owl swooped in front of the car like that. If it had been icy, it could have caused a swerve.
Oh and I should mention that when I drew the curtains back this morning we had new fresh snow, a good few inches on top of the previous stuff. Now we have a pale blue sky with sunshine, very pretty!

Humph.....so much for my snow-clearing-military-manoeuvres yesterday!

ah! yes, the whole street is full of it now, nobody seems bothered to go out. Luckily we have food for a month. I think I ran out of and though.
Actually it's thawing as I write, it's dripping from the bushes.
Oh, and mum just spotted a redwing in the garden, I only caught a glimpse of it flying off.

When I got up to let the dog out at 6 this morning the world was white. When I got up again a few (ok, 3½) hours later it was just wet and dripping. And now it's getting really cold and will freeze tonight no doubt.
I hope the real snow holds off in the midlands until next Friday when I've broken up for the holidays.

It's a "feature" in Pliny that it only shows you the last 510 conversations. According to Alabaster, I'm subscribed to 18,193 conversations.

In one of the later HHGG books, Arthur Dent encountered Elvis, who lived on a distant planet and worked in a fast-food burger place, happily making burgers and serving them up while humming all the old hits.
Rupert was a planet in HHGG, but I can't remember whether it was where Elvis lived.

Rupert was the 10th planet, discovered in Mostly Harmless. <<...named Persephone, but rapidly nicknamed Rupert after some astronomer's parrot...>>
Elvis sang in the Domain of the King Bar & Grill, where Arthur & Ford got off the perfectly normal beasts. Not sure of the planet though.
This post bought to you though the joys of ebook readers & their search facilities. Or cheating, as some might say.
